It would be hard to get all those nations to work together. I mean, could you see North Korea getting along with most other countries?

I wasn't aware that it was on the table.

On the other hand, never say that it's impossible, on a long enough timescale. Consider the timespan it took the kingdoms of the UK to become a single polity and then more recently the pressures pulling it all apart again. Five hundred years? A thousand? Quite possibly.

One world government in this century, I would say no, and probably not desirable either. A group of political blocs (which is pretty much the world today) adhering to some kind of international remit in matters of labour standards, health, education, war, and environmental stewardship... would not be a bad direction.

Literal governments are becoming more and more irrelevant... we're pretty close to having a de facto one world government already. Many, many of the world's power-brokers already lie outside the literal realm of government, and operate internationally.

Good question, though kings are outdated now.

I think a world government is a long way off, though it may be slowly forming with the European Union and such.

But again, how would these nations work together? I doubt Saudi Arabia would be easy to work with, as it is a theocratic, ultra-conservative country.

Actually there are 44 current monarchies in the world.

The same way all empires work together. Fear. Cooperation may not be optional.
