sad commentary

Looks like she's hitting the lottery. Unfortunately it won't bring her daughter back.

msnbc.com

ORLANDO, Fla. — The verdict on the murder charge was "not guilty," and Casey Anthony likely will soon be a free woman. The question now is, "What's next?"

She could take advantage of interest in the case to make a lot of money, according to People magazine writer Steve Helling.

"We are looking at networks, magazines that may pay; that will lead to books and movies, and (Casey) can make a lot of money off that," Helling told NBC station WESH-TV.

Helling said he doesn't count out the jurors from making serious cash, too, but it won't be near as much as Anthony can fetch if and when she does talk.

But if Anthony decides to talk, Helling said, she will have to be forthcoming with her answers.

"If she doesn't answer the real questions, you are going to see a revolt. (People) want answers. Even though she was acquitted, what does she have to say for herself?" Helling said.

Anthony is likely to be inundated with offers, some with big money attached.

“I would not be surprised, given the notoriety and infamy of the case, if Casey gets $1 million to give a full interview,” California defense attorney and legal analyst David Wohl told Fox News.

Florida law prohibits a person convicted of a crime from profiting from that crime. But in the Anthony case, she wasn't convicted of murder and so should be free to talk about aspects of her daughter's death, said Fort Lauderdale criminal attorney William Moore, senior partner at Alitowski & Moore.

"She can make all the money she wants," Moore told msnbc.com.

Helling said that People will not pay Anthony or her family for an interview because their readers may boycott the magazine.

The boycott already began Tuesday as user Mar4L posted on Twitter, "Start it now. Boycott all books and movies about Casey Anthony. No one should profit from the death of Caylee Anthony."

On Facebook, a page titled "Boycott Casey Anthony Books/Movie Deals etc!!! KEEP HER in the Poorhouse" had more than 700 "Likes" as of Wednesday morning.

Anthony reportedly has already been approached to star in a porn film.

Hours after Tuesday's verdict, Steve Hirsch, co-founder of adult-video producer Vivid Entertainment, called Anthony's lawyer, Jose Baez, to discuss the possibility of a business relationship, TMZ reported.

"Whether you agree with the verdict or not, Casey will want to move forward with her life and has a right to make a living. It’s not going to be easy for her and we believe we can help her make the transition into a new life," Hirsch told TMZ.

"We’ve all seen the pictures of her partying and having a good time with friends where she definitely looks hot."

Hirsch said he hasn't heard back yet on his offer.

I wouldn't watch Casey on TV or read her interviews online. She's clearly a pathologial liar, and will create more lies because she loves to do so.

That HLN channel is scary. That Jane Velez Mitchell She was chasing the defense lawyers down the street a few days ago-on camera.

Of course they won the ratings for the verdict, and their overall ratings have probably skyrocketed.

Maybe Casey will get her own talk show Or run for office.

I've had three years of this case being rammed down my throat. Prosecution did an A+ shit job with the investigation.

Now can we all fucking move on? People were punching each other to get seats at this trial. Talk about macabre!

My other point was that I can't believe it's only a misdemeanor to lie to the police about an ongoing investigation. Casey is still gonna be able to vote after all this? It should be a felony at the least. All those cops running around looking for a nanny that never existed? Bullshit.

Reading some of the comments on the news articles has me once again feeling embarrassed to be an American

Casey's in court constantly fixing her long locks. She's ready for her closeup.

That lawyer of hers who was jumping up and down in the restaurant like a child after she took a picture of the media with her cell phone..she was Casey's minder in the courtroom. How old is she? What a fool. Way to keep Caylee in mind too.

Classy

Supposedly her old conviction for check fraud is a felony. But lie to police about your dead child and cost the state millions of dollars and make up a fake babysitter and accuse her of taking your child..nah, that's ok.

The woman who has the same name as the fake babysitter is suing her-she was served yesterday. The state of Florida is also going after her for costs related to the case.

She got 4 consecutive 1 year sentences with credit for time served.

I hope there isn't too big a delay in her lottery windfall. That wouldn't be fair.
