Something about this whole thing really confuses me...

Someone was feeling someone else up at a Mat Kearney concert?

Matt Kearney isn't exactly Marvin Gaye.

No. I think Nathan was implying that Matt Kearney is a "Christian" artist. Therefore, a "Christian" concert. That's why it's weird/confusing.

Indeed. "her golden thighs" is about risque as he gets lyrically.

Mat Kearney is funny that way. He has had his roots in Christian music--I recently found out that some of his songs have been played on Christian radio (which I didn't know since I don't listen to Christian radio). But he's also built up a lot of fans outside of that genre because his songs have been used on a number of television shows (Grey's Anatomy is the most famous), so you have fans that know him primarily from that. He exists in that nebulous crossover world, with a foot in both the mainstream pop world and the Christian music world (though arguably his most recent albums lean more towards mainstream and away from the Christian market).

I've been to a fair number of concerts by Christian market artists and this was definitely not a concert geared to that market. It was at the House of Blues not a mega-church. Nonetheless, I know many if not most Christians have no issue with drinking alcohol, so at least on that count whether he's a Christian artist or not would be a moot point no?

I think nathan was probably just making a joke too and will be crushed when he finds what has been done to it

I'm gonna be real with you. I find your response offensive. The last thing I'd expect is to be called "pervy."

Thanks for that.

To be honest, I"m surprised. You've always struck me as friendly and courteous and I wouldn't have expected that sort of response from you.

Would it be completely out of line for me to suggest that this sounds like the voice of experience?

i'm sorry to offend, i meant "a bit pervy" in a humourous way actually... bridget jones anyone? lighten up...

i guess i should have said i found it "a bit strange" then...

maybe it's more of a british reserved thing - i would say don't stare, don't intervene and just get on with enjoying the concert (like i said, if there's no-one protesting) - i would feel uncomfortable standing there watching people make out like that, and certainly wouldn't try to police them even if it is inappropriate... if i had kids there, i wouldn't draw their attention to it if they hadn't noticed first and would just move away so we couldn't see... but if they had noticed, i would say yeah, inappropriate, but not make a big fuss about it...

living in France, you kind of get used to public displays of affection/love/lust among young people, and just learn to ignore it really

I appreciate your clarification. I'm not usually this cranky.

I feel like my original concern has gotten lost though. I really wasn't concerned about "inappropriate" displays of PDA. I'm hardly interested in policing other people's behavior provided they are consenting adults. The reason I was bothered was because I felt someone was being taken advantage of and wasn't sure if a line had been crossed (see thread title).

I can live with feeling a bit foolish and naive at not having realized that a situation was essentially innocuous--something that would have been obvious to most everyone else apparently. I wouldn't have been able to live with myself had it been a situation where someone needed help and I did nothing. So I'm glad it turned out to be the former rather than the latter.
