Looks like Edge is finally breaking out the 2009 Gretsch Black Falcon. Appears that is what he's using for "One Tree Hill" on this tour.

Here's a piccy of Dallas with it, back during soundcheck on the U2:360 2009 dates:

The Black Falcon was also listed in the October 2009 Music Radar interview / featrue with Dallas Schoo.

That is a nice guitar. What is the breakdown of guitars/songs now on the 360 tour? It seems like Edge has truly turned into a hollowbody guy. Offhand it seems like most of their live songs are being played on hollowbodies. Which also begs the question of how he avoids the feedback at the stadium volume he's playing at, but I guess they have their tricks.

Actually, there are a lot of solid body guitars. LP's, Teles, Strats, RetroRockets.

The Gents have closed F-Holes.
Rick has open F-holes but is a semi-hollow and very shallow. I've never heard of feedback issues with a Rick.

He's not used the Casino for any of the 2010 shows. Breathe and No Line being retired thus far...

The Stereo Country Club being retired for a Stratocaster for MOS...

So that really leaves... the only hollow right now that could have feedback issues as... the Black Falcon

Scarlet - About 2:20 you get a shot of Edge playing a Les Paul. It looks white at first, due to the light, but when you see him move, you can see the Mardi Gras finish = Music Rising LP.

Near the end you see Edge take of the LP MR and Dallas hand him the LP Custom for "Walk On"

Wasn't SBS played on a Sunburst strat? And I think the piano for MS was a Yamaha. No idea what model whatshowever.

Tobacco = tobacco sunburst.

MOS is the Yamaha CP80 piano + guitar. During the 2009 shows he was using a Gretsch 1959 Sunburst 6101 Country Club. During the 2010 European shows, he changed the part he was playing and began to use a black Fender Stratocaster.

I've not seen MOS video from Auckland or Melbourne. But it might still be the Stratocaster for MOS.

Ah gotcha. and MS = Miss Sarajevo. ;) I know he uses the same during MOS.

Ah. Yep, Yamaha CP80 piano for Miss Sarajevo.

Yeah I guess I was thinking of the Casino and Stereo Country Club as well.

The interesting thing -- to me -- is after tours of a decent amount of Les Paul Custom use... not so much now.

"Walk On" has been it for the last two legs of the tour. And before that, there was also "Unknown Caller".

Now most of the Les Paul use is one of the 'Music Rising' LPs.

I guess the one that was auctioned was THAT special. And that the other, with the black knobs nor the clone of the auctioned guitar might not sound or feel the same to The Edge? Or perhaps he just prefers the sound and feel of the Music Rising Les Pauls?

I'm sure if Edge read half of the gear stuff we talk about, he'd chuckle. Chances are he'd say something like "you guys think about that way more than I do" or something like that.

The u2gigs vid of Bad from Melbourne, I could be wrong but isn't Edge using the black-on-black Strat for Bad there? Or is my eyesight becoming terrible lol

edit: No sorry it's the white pickguard Strat, sorry haha

Nope, your eyes weren't playing tricks on you. :) It was BOTH (all black Stat and then the black and white Strat)

You can see the guitar change-over between "Mercy" and "Bad". He hands the LP Music Rising to Dallas and takes the all-black Strat.

When "Bad" starts, it sounded a bit off.

In the first bit you see Edge playing the all-black Strat. But then Dallas comes back out and they make a quick switch to a black and white Stratocaster.

You can see the swap on this video:

Happen to have a list of the basses Adam uses for the setlist? :p

I had one for the first two legs of the tour. This leg, I am not certain... I haven't had time to be THAT bored at work yet -- to have the time to put one together. I will get around to it.

Seems mostly the purple sparkle Precision, gold sparkle Precision, gold Warwick Star Bass, gold Warwick Reverso, gold Warwick Reverso (with reversed headstock), natural finish Warwick Reverso...

Adam is still using the Gibson RD Artist bass for "Magnificent". I think that is the only song he's using that bass.

Particular song you are looking for information regarding?

The cream LP bass from The Fly video for one :)

Adam did briefly use a few bass guitars early in the tour. The bass you are referring is his 1972(-ish) Gibson Triumph.

SPOTLIGHT BASS | GIBSON TRIUMPH

He's been using a 1970's era gold Gibson Les Paul Signature bass for "Mysterious Ways". (From between 1975-1979)

SPOTLIGHT BASS | GIBSON LES PAUL SIGNATURE

The Warwick (Triumph Gold finish) Star Bass, being used since the start of the 2010 shows, replaced the Epiphone Rivoli for "Get On Your Boots".

SPOTLIGHT BASS | WARWICK STAR BASS II

There have been a few other various Warwick bass guitars that Adam's used briefly:
* WARWICK // Streamer Stage I // 200x // Antique Tobacco burst in colored oil finish with mirrored pickups [seen during early U2:360 shows] - (More information forthcoming).

* WARWICK // Custom Streamer Stage II (heavily customized w/bigger body - 6-string body with 4-string neck) // 200x // birdeye maple[seen during 2009-07-20 Amsterdam U2:360 show; used for "Sunday Bloody Sunday"] - (More information forthcoming).

* WARWICK // Custom Streamer $$ // 2009 // custom gold sparkle finish w/Seymour Duncan Vintage pickups (Wound personally by Seymour Duncan!) [First seen during U2's appearance at the Nov 5th show at Berlin Brandenberg Gates.] - (Per Warwick: "It is actually a custom Streamer $$, with maple fb wood, black block inlays, maple neck, swamp ash body, custom wired Seymour Duncan pickups, full passive electronics, but with a custom wiring. And a nice special Gold Flake finish).

Adam is still using the gold sparkle Fender Jazz bass for a few tunes. I'd have to double-check YouTube to see for which tunes on the last leg.

Fender Custom Shop also built Adam a purple/lilac sparkle Jazz bass, same finish as the purple/lilac sparkle Precision. Although I've not seen him use it during any of the shows, thus far.

Don't forget though, that Melbourne show (I was there) Edge was having a few problems and had to change guitars halfway through two or three songs. I'm no guitar player, but I think he changed Strats a couple times?

I can't remember whether it was the Gold Jazz or Precision, but I do remember seeing one of them with a Lakland bridge on it. Wasn't too sure about the headstock if it was Lakland w/ a Fender decal, but I distinctly remember seeing the rounded bridge. Any ideas E_O?

I'd have to see a pic of the bass you are describing. (Have you a picture of it?)

I don't remember his Fender's having Lakland bridges.

As for his Lakland bass guitars... He did use a Lakland during the promo shows, none of them have seen the light of day on the 360 tour.

Lakland did make him a gold sparkle Daryl Jones. (Got that info from Dan Lakin, himself). This was well before the tour started. But I've not seen Adam use it nor seen pictures of him using it.

During streets at one of the melb shows, Edge was 90% happy with the sound. Dallas was carrying a blonde stratocaster ready to hand off but edge never made the change. Blonde Strat of all things!

It was mentioned in the October 2008 Music Radar article.

Fender 1973 Cream Stratocaster w/Maple Neck

There are a few guitars that are backups, that I've only seen during soundchecks; this probably as they'd be recently re-strung (is my guess).

I've seen Dallas 'soundcheck' a jetglo Rickenbacker 330 12-string, Pelham blue Gibson SG and the aforementioned 1973 Cream Strat - all thus far not seen during shows.

Hopefully he will use them at some point. I really like the Pelham blue SG.

I think you're right. I believe Adam was using a Gold Sparkle Lakland J-Style Bass for City of Blinding Lights. It definitely had the rounded Lakland bridge and sharper headstock contour. Wasn't a Darryl Jones or Joe Osborn, but seemed to be a hybrid between the two.

YouTube - U2006com's Channel

About 1:17 in. It's a bit difficult tosee the bridge but you can see it's rounded, and the obvious culprit is the headstock :)

Yep. You are right. That does look like a Lakland headstock. Cool that he's still using at least one Lakland.

That clip was from August of 2009. I was looking at some other clips. By summer 2010 seems that he'd gone to the gold Reverso.

U2Scott has a lovely Lakland. I still think it is one of his best sound bass guitars.
