Average
10) Sleep Like A Baby Tonight (the falsetto is cringeworthy, but the guitar solo saves it. This one might move up over time)

Meh
11) Cedarwood Road

I must be in the minority. I think the first half is pretty easily better than the second.

This might change after a few more listens.

I have to change my ordering already:

1. Every Breaking Wave
2. California
3. Volcano
4. Iris
5. Sleep like a baby tonight.
6. The Troubles
7. The Miracle
8. Raised by Wolves
9. Cearwood Rd
10. Song for someone
11. This is where you can reach me now

This is a really difficult album for me to prioritize. For Hut dab and Nloth, there was a clear separation between the great, good, and bad. This album has some great and a lot of good. Nothing bad.

1 The Troubles
2 EBW
3 Volcano
4 Sleep Like A Baby
5 California
6 RBW
7 Iris
8 Miracle
9 Cedarwood Road
10 SFS
11 TIWYCRM

The best part is how difficult this was, which just shows how consistent this album is.

This is tough because I pretty much like every song on this album. But ok this is my list

1. Every Breaking Wave
2. Raised By Wolves
3. Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
4. This is Where You Can Reach Me Now
5. Song For Someone
6. The Troubles
7. The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)
8. California (There Is No End To Love)
9. Volcano
10. Cedarwood Road
11. Iris (Hold Me Close)

1. The Troubles
2. Every Breaking Wave
3. Volcano

After listening one time through, those are the standouts to me. The rest hasn't filled in for me yet. But I hear really irresistible things that I know I'll be coming back to.

1. Iris

2. You're Gonna Sleep Like a Baby Tonight

3. The Troubles

4. This Is Where You Can Reach me

5. Every Breaking Wave

6. Cedarwood Road

7. Raised By Wolves

8. The Miracles

9. Volcano

10. Song For Someone

11. California

I think the record is back-loaded... but the front half is still damn good, held up by Every Breaking Wave and Iris.

Also combing through everybody's rankings only sells how consistent this record it.

1) The Troubles
2) Iris
3) The Miracle

4) Volcano
5) Raised By Wolves
6) Every Breaking Wave
7) This Is Where You Can Reach Me
8) Sleep Like A Baby Tonight

9) Cedarwood Road
10) Song For Someone

11) California

Right now, This is Where You Can Reach Me and Volcano are 1 and 2 respectively. The rest are all tied for 3 place.

I'm going to withhold the hyperbole for this album until at least 20 more spins of it.

U2 are kicking it like Janet Jackson in 1987- They promised it would be worth the wait. Who thought it would take 5 years?

I think I'm getting to a point where I can place in tiers. All songs in the tiers are in no specific order.

Tier 1 - Potential U2 Classics

- The Troubles
- Iris
- Cedarwood Road

Tier 2 - Very strong tracks that I'll probably still enjoy listening to years from now:

- Every Breaking Wave
- Raised By Wolves
- The Is Where You Can Reach Around
- Sleep Like A Baby Tonight
- Volcano

Tier 3 - Non Offensive, enjoyable, but probably will never specifically play the song on its own in 3-4 years:

- Song For Someone
- California
- The Miracle

Overall, the positive news here is that unlike U2's last 3 albums, there isn't one song on it that I hate and want to kick a wall or someone's dog over (SUC, Crazy Tonight, ABOY, LAPOE, Wild Honey, Grace).

Also, this is the best 2nd half of any U2 album since Zooropa, imo.

I might be the only one who thinks every breaking wave is filler on this album

No. The first two tracks are the weakest, imo, and the album rapidly gets darker, wilder, better after that. No lack of love for Cedarwood road here, that intro is
