um......it's not iodine in the sky?

oooooooooooops. I always thought it was some sort of discolored sky, or cleansed sky...I mean it's not like the rest of the song entirely makes sense either. Nor does "I and I in the sky" particularly click for me.

"I and I" is kinda like saying "God and I," if I understand things properly -- Which I probably don't.

If I could remember the reason behind that, you'd all think I was really smart, because it just made heaps of sense, but I can't. Oh well.

I think it had something to do with a very old reference, and for some reason I'm thinking of Russia.

I still sing, "You're looking for the mall, but you know you're somewhere else instead" In Discotheque.

As long as you get the tune right it probably doesn't matter what you sing.

I'd rape men and women/ If there was a church I could recieve in. :reject:
 This must be about priests and altar boys, then.

Hey, Bono hardly ever gets them all right, not live anyway. We shouldn't be expected to either!

Its funny how, even when someone tells you the CORRECT words, you are so used to singing the wrong ones that you still do it every time.

I just found out that in When I Look At The World, it's actually NOT "blew it up so it's no use", but "but without you it's no use".
I really sounds like the first one to me though. :hmm:

Sometimes I feel like I don't know/Sometimes I feel like Chicken, I.../ I wanna get it wrong...etc.
What? Those AREN'T the correct lyrics?

I always thought so. Doesn't sound like 'checking out'...

I don't know if anyone else has said this but if you have then I am glad I'm not the only one...Ok here it goes...

In Do You Feel Loved ...instead of hearing "in the belly of a woman" I could have sworn he said "in the belly of a LEMON" LOL I sang it this way for a really long time I thought it made sense you know the Popmart Lemon...but it makes even more sense in the belly of a woman:reject:

I thought "Hour's of fun" in Vertigo was "Shazbot" which was apparantly a popular term amongst university science students like thirty years ago

Go figure

Also that bit in Vertigo .....i think a lot of Bono's lyrics are unfinished during recording but the feel and sound of what gets recorded is so good that sometimes he doesnt worry if there is no actual lyric. So it stays! "Check mate-hours of fun" Yeah right! He doeant sing that at all. I think it might be an "in" joke.
I think you may be right. In the studio version, it doesn't sound like that at all. It sounds more like nonexisting words, like Bono uses in unfinished songs.

my big mixups:
(these are all real)

1. stay:
just the band and the clatter
as A NINJA runs to ground
just the band and the clatter
as A NINJA hits the ground

2. Mysterious Ways
living underground, eating from a CAT

3. Wake Up Dead Man
Can't we rewind and JUST WATCH PORN

4. North & South of The River
Can we stop playing these ALTAR 'TUDES
(lord knows what I thought that meant)

5. City Of Blinding Lights
rather than:
Time, won't leave me as I am
Time, won't take the boy out of this man:

Tonight... One Lean Me Howie Sand
Tonight...One Jingle Bird An Honest Tan

(that was as close as i could get until i forced myself to read the lyrics, which was about a year after I got the cd)

6. A Man And A Woman
Brown Eyed Girl Across The Street
On Newspaper Rhine

and i still don't know what he says on LOVE AND PEACE right after
Baby don't fight, we can talk this thing through.

it sounds like "With Meanie and You" (perhaps a Beatles reference) or maybe a more cockney "With me knee and you" (he's gonna knee her in the stomach... not really the best way to end a tiff, if you ask me.)

"With me, me, and you"

I should say I always heard Like A Song wrong, here are some of the lyrics I thought I heard, I need my hearing checked

"And in leather, lace, and chains
We stake our claim / And whenever they say change, we stay the same"

"And we love to wear a badge, a uniform ,And we love to fly a flag / And we love to wear a badge, US Air Force, and we love to fly a plane"

"Angry words won't stop a fight / Three words won't stop a fight"

"Oh God, make it bleed / I Can't make it bleed"

The "been around the back, been around the front" from Mofo... I always thought it was "You left me, you left me." Which would kind of make more sense in the context of the song, but whatever.

It'll be me and you

I swear he says shazbot....Hm...must be an Indiana thing, people at my school say that all the time. Wait nno....that's my japanese teache that says that all the time...but he's only 30, so his slang's not that far off from ours, and I'm pretty sure I've heard other people say it.

What I read originally, though I just went to check those lyrics again, and they've changed them to this whole hours of fun buisness, was shoot me, just fall, Show me eh. or something like that...actually I just listened to it now, and that's what I hear, or I hear Check mate, shazbot, Show me.

I dont' kknow but there is no WAY ON EARTH that he is saying Hours of Fun. I really think they watchthese boards and they just wanted to see how long it would take for all of their fans to go insane trying to figure out how he says hours of fun...

He doesn't say "hours of fun". At all.

**gets out her HTDAAB booklet**

Just like he's not saying "Where are we now?" after the middle 8 in SYCMIOYO (He's saying "Well, hey now")

And he's not saying "It's not a big problem" anywhere in the middle 8 of LAPOE. In fact, he skips that line entirely and goes on to the next one.

And then of course, there's Last Night On Earth from Pop, where he's definately not saying "The future is so predictable, the past is too uncomfortable", but says "She hasn't been to bed in a week, she'll be dead soon, then she'll sleep", which is a much better lyric anyway.

Check mated
Skies are fall
Show meaning, yeah yeah

Something like that?
Except "skies are fall" seems a bit misplaced. Why would he make a reference to autumn in this song?
"Skies are fallen" would make more sense in this context, but I don't hear "en".

Anyway, I like the idea of the first word being "sky" or "skies". It sounds like a "sh"-sound, yes. But in other songs Bono pronounces "sky" as "shy" as well.
