Self Aid is seriously one of U2's best ever performances. Sure Bono's voice is a little strained. But they are on fire totally. Bono is angry. You hear it in his speech before SBS and then it spills over at the end of Bad when he sings those lines from Candle In The Wind. To quote someone else from another U2 moment in time: 'a lot of emotion right there'. And that version of Bad is clearly rather improvised which is cool.
