These are their 10 longest songs till date, if my itunes is correct...

1. Lemon 6:58
2. Zooropa 6:31
3. Love Rescue Me 6:24
4. Elvis Presley And America 6:23
5. Hawkmoon 269 6:22
6. An Cat Dubh 6:16 (or if you include Into The Heart, then 8:14)
7. Bad 6:09
8. So Cruel 5:49
9. Mofo 5:49
10. City Of Blinding Lights 5:47

They're really not all that long! But imagine a U2 song that is 17:03 or 23:35

An Cat Dubh 6:16? :eyebrow:

Last time I checked it was 4:46...

And I'm not entirely sure U2 at that length would really work. Although I'll admit when I listen to Lemon the time flies by, it never ever feels like it's seven minutes.

You must have got some kind of weird edited version because I have double checked my itunes and it is indeed 6:16 on the album. And that's not even including 1:58 of Into The Heart.

There are also two very different mastering jobs on CD pressings of Boy. The North American releases tend to have An Cat Dubh (6:21) / Into the Heart (1:53), whereas European releases have these as An Cat Dubh (4:47) / Into the Heart (3:28). When comparing the physical vinyl, you can see this difference, although listening to the album will not show any differences as these tracks flow into one another. The overall track is identical for both releases, just the division point is different on the two.

Interesting, either way it's such a killer combo

As for prog? Let's leave that to the out-there bands like Godspeed You Black Emperor.

Hmm...if U2 could make a long song that's consistently interesting then I'd be all for it. Bono was talking about how the Arabic music doesn't have much of a defined structure like Western music does. I'd like to hear U2 do a song that has no chorus or verses or anything really, it just kind of evolves and goes from one thing to the next.

Well, prog is a lot more than just really long running times. If they made a 17-minute song that ruly kicks some U2y ass, than I'm all in.

If they go true prog, I may have to star cappin' bitched.

AH HA! it IS 6:30!

:hmm:

that makes 3 of their longest songs on R&H, therefore:

R&H = U2's "Prog-est" album...

thank you, thank you, save your applause until the end of the show...

Zooropa is more proggier :madwife:

is it "proggier" or "prog-est" ? I'm getting kind of sick of saying prog to be honest

The word "prog" makes me want to run over an amphibian with my car.

29 thank you very much!

sheesh dad, always yelling at me to walk...

You know one of my legs is in a cast? Why do you think Im called elevated_u2_fan???

I tried to get you that operation when you were 8, but you had that allergy to anesthesia. :tsk:

besides, food stamps don't pay for intrusive leg surgery...:shifty:

They already have, if you think about it. Passengers is quite progressive, and some stuff off of Zooropa (like the title track) is very experimental and could be considered progressive as well.

It doesn't have to be long to be progressive.
