Went to a Nintendo Switch 2 midnight launch at a local independent store last night, rocked up an hour early which was just enough to net me a free bag of swag. Set it up before going to bed, so while no verdict on Mario Kart World the actual build of the console is fantastic. Bigger, light and comfortable to hold. Internal functions and the eShop run instantly. I've got Friday and Monday off work and looking forward to a few Grand Prix races with the fam.

Wasn't initially going to get one but then FOMO struck, plus every other console seems to be going up in price and not like Nintendo are known for discounts when they're selling well. No shortage of stock around, but it seems we've been supplied in excess of population.

Ahh that's awesome to hear man! I'd love to play stuff like Mario Kart more, sounds like I need to get myself a family haha.

The $699 price spooks me, particularly given the launch price of the original Switch was $469 from memory... so that's a $230 increase... just accounting for inflation, it should only be $599.

But, my Switch is in pretty poor condition and I'm so ready to upgrade. I think I'm going to drop in to EB Games and try and do a trade-in.

Keep me posted on your adventures with it :)

So towards the end of last year I got back into Red Dead 2. I struggled so much with it because of how slow chapter 1 was… after coming back to it and completing it can’t believe what an actual piece of art Red Dead 2 is and can’t believe I slept on it. I think anyone who has played it knows what happens, but even knowing what happens and playing the game up to that point and being legit moved to tears by video game writing is one of the greatest feelings to experience from a video game of all things. I don’t think the writing and gameplay can be matched.

It's ****ing incredible. And I didn't mind how slow chapter one was, I grew up playing Nintendo games and so appreciated the storytelling and slow learning curve. I do wish that I was made aware I was heading into the final scene when I did play it though, I had to cancel some plans because I didn't realise it had started and was so long lol. The D'Angelo song after only having atmospherics and dramatic music for much of the game ruled. Tears, tears, tears as he was on the rock, particularly after speaking to that nun in Saint Denis I think it was.

i played RDR1 a zillion times back in the day, so for me the epilogue of RDR2 was what really moved me the most, knowing what was coming for john and his family. that series is one of video gaming's all-time peaks. i don't even want them to make a third game because i can't imagine how it could possibly match up to the first two.

Yeah, I’m glad I waited to play Red Dead 1 after completing Red Dead 2. I agree in that I can’t see them creating a 3rd game that can be on the level quality that those 2 games were.

I don't think that ALL video games suck. Ever played the Telltale Walking Dead Game? It has a better story/character development than 90% of books that I've read. Then again, those aren't really video game central elements, so...

I’ve been playing Dark Souls remastered on Switch and it’s just brutal.
Man I love Dark Souls! Never given it a shot on the Switch but I've played it a lot on PC. Well DS2 at least, I'm an odd duck. It can be a drag but from what I've played of DS1 it's really fun to find shortcuts and see how well the world is interconnected.
