The fact there's tickets on StubHub before the presale has even finished should be a massive red flag to the fact that there's something fundamentally wrong here and ultimately they don't really care where the tickets end up so long as they're all getting paid.

I’m not sure how they plan to transfer the tickets on stubhub? Unless they made burner subscriptions on gift cards and generated emails? But surely that would violate some kind of policy somewhere.

there's only 7 GAs on StubHub for 9/29... my guess is that the people who are doing this either don't realize they can't transfer them or did exactly what you said.

Totally agree. No U2.com request should have been unfulfilled before the VF presale.

that the first presale is starting in half an hour and as an ultra I wasn't automatically put into the first wave of verified fans really really really pisses me off.

cool keychain, tho.

fuck i never got the keychain. damn it.

My guess for how higher priority people got shafted so hard is probably our misunderstanding of what higher priority means. It may be that you were given shares based upon your priority, and they’re still raffling. Otherwise, how can I prioritize ultra #1 from ultra #10000 and everyone else in between? What if there’s enough ultras that no violet gets a ticket, and now you have a massive crowd of people demanding subscriber refunds? They probably just did a weighting.

Pair that with the ticket type… for the record, my request for all three shows was GA, VIP, P1, P4. But anyways, less ticket type requests could indeed mean an ultra had less shares than a violet, if they were doing it that way.

No offense. I've always been happy for anyone who wants to see U2 and has scored tickets. But there shouldn't have been violets for the U2.com presale for these shows. Cut off should have been before the Superbowl ad imho.

Or sooner bc I’m feeling un-generous.

LN always wants to sell subscriptions

i'm okay with them doing it in stages... but it should have been a two part process, not both groups together.

once ultras were fulfilled, then you go to violets.

the one place where they ABSOLUTELY messed up was allowing people to renew their membership AFTER dates were finally announced. that's inevitably where a lot of scalpers hopped in.

There have been rumors about these shows for almost a year now. U2.com subscriptions should have had to have been valid before the Superbowl ad in order to participate in the presale for them.

For me that was the shitty icing on top of the cake made entirely of shit.

have they at the very least shared the details on how the "fan marketplace" for face value tickets is going to work?

like - will you be able to choose who you sell the ticket(s) to?

Has not been the case in the past. For PJ some fans coordinated late night timed drops on F2F to try and steer them towards a specific buyer, sometimes worked, sometimes didn't.
You likely just have to be vigilant in checking.

yea. like i get that there was a chance that every Ultra wasn't going to get tickets.

i'm more pissed off about being waitlisted for the verified fan sale than i am about Violets getting seats before us. i'm genuinely happy for the number of longtime fans here who got tickets last night.

.

This for sure. Similar to how they've done them in the past.
Maybe some Ultras still get shut out of particular shows, but you don't get slapped by seeing violets get the exact shows and ticket type you requested.

And that's the thing, how far back do you go? When the rumours started? That way you might at least cut out some of the scalpers getting early access?

How committed are scalpers - do they keep renewing year after year and re-gifting all the delayed "free" gifts?

Or do they just signup whenever a tour by a major artist is rumoured?

What is objectively right? Probably no “cutoff” but a prioritization order based upon age of subscription or cumulative age of subscription. Not at all hard to implement in a non-live scenario like they utilized. Your “ranking” probably should have been instead of 3 shows… n ticket type show combinations ranked. So if you wanted GA and didn’t care about date you could do GA GA GA, or if you cared about date more you could rack that show up front with any ticket type.

def is_available(ticket_type, date, count):
return inventory[date][ticket_type].pop(count)

for member in requests:
if requests[member][“Ticket”] != None:
continue
for request in requests[member]:
ticket = is_available(*request[“Demand”])
if ticket:
requests[member][“Ticket”] = ticket
break

Done. Takes literally no effort to make this system.
