I've mentioned this before.. way back.. but there's lots new faces around so I thought I'd bring this back up... and now I also have much better digital images to go along with this.

Anyway, when I was in my senior art class we had to have a theme for our works, and mine was to interpret U2 songs as paintings.

I did Bullet the Blue Sky (this one turned out far better than the others), Streets, Please, Bad (ironically and unfortunately the worst of the bunch), Mothers of the Disappeared, and Running to Stand Still.

I have them all up on my site here, if you are interested.

I also remember some cool U2 inspired paintings by RademF (i think that was his username.. can't quite remember, sorry).

Anybody else do anything like this?

I have a multi-media piece that is loosely based (meaning similar pose) off this pic:
PopBono11.jpg

I continue the upper torso and where the heart should be there is an outline of Africa.

I also have a few pieces inspired from the What's Going On video...

I don't think I have any pics to post though---I'll see. I'm usually very shy about my "art" :p

Thanks for the kind words stars.. that Bono with the africa and the heart sounds like a really neat idea!!

Hi Skeek..Love your work...I have a very vivid and creative imagination myself...I draw and work with other type media as
well and I can listen to a song whether it's U2 of anyone else and if it touches my heart/imagination i can envision it as art...
I will finish som eof my stuff and post it if I can...

by the way I love your Bullet the Blue sky!

I absolutely love it. Thank you for sharing.

And can I just say... that picture of Bono is delicious. Oh, that neck....

Nice paintings dude - I dig 'em! I think my favourite is Running to Stand Still...just beautiful. Love the eyes. BTBS is really awesome too.

I draw U2 all the freakin' time. I draw them so much it's not even funny. I've been (badly) doodling Bono and the boys anime-style for years. In 8th grade art we had an assignment in which we had to interpret lyrics into an art piece, and I used the beginning of Streets. Basically it was a giant eye (because I love eyes and I love drawing them) with a hand reaching out toward a flame in the pupil :p it was a little messy, but eh, it was something. I've drawn U2 in art class many times since... last year I drew U2 for our first assignment (make a billboard in perspective - I made a billboard advertising a U2 concert) as well as two sketchbook assignments, one of the band JT-style and the other of Pop Bono (I also did a still-life and included the War album, and I did a landscape with a tree and wrote "One Tree Hill" on it because I felt like it). Just last week I painted an Elevation Bono for my free-choice assignment and now I'm drawing JT Bono. I even used U2 for my chemistry assignment, which was to make a "happy birthday" card for "Mr. Mole," aka the unit of measurement mole (mol) which is 6.02 x 10^23. We had to make a happy birthday card personifying a "mole" and incorporating those numbers... so of course I drew U2 preforming Elevation, all chibified and adorable. I will draw U2 ANY CHANCE I get... I went through a phase where I drew The Fly like fifty bajillion times, and - yea, I draw U2 a lot.

This is where I stop rambling now. starsgoblue, I really want to see your pictures. The Bono with Africa heart thing sounds beautiful... you should post it. Really.

cool, Skeek! The flower one is now my wallpaper :D

I'm not really an artist but I'm somewhat of a computer nerd so I've done a lot of Photoshop art of Bono since I can't *actually* paint or charcoal or whatever.

Thanks. Most of my photoshop stuff is made with stills I make (I try not to use other people's photos). That one I'm almost sure comes from the Beautiful Day video (not the airport one).

thanks for the kind words, folks. And it's nice to see all your works as well.. very cool!
