This is just so heartbreaking I had to share it.
Today we have had one of the most tragic funerals in Sweden. It was a 27 year old girl from Turkey, Fadime, that have the last five years been chased, threatened to death by her father and younger brother because she fell in love with the wrong guy, a swede, and by that put shame over the family. According to their culture her father or any male relative is allowed to therefor kill her, an action called murder of honour (something like that, don't know the exact translation) simply to get rid of the one who put shame over the family to bring back the honour to the family. Finally after all these years and tries he made it. Two weeks ago he killed his own daughter with shots in the head.
Today was the funeral. The whole arrangement was beautiful but culminated and made every single person in and outside the curch to cry, it was when her best friends, instead of trying to say something, simply played Fadime's favourite song, One. They gathered around the couffin(?) and took each others hands and said their last farewell to their friend to the beauty of U2's music and Bono singing out the beautiful lyrics to One, and they echoed far outside the church. I don't think I can find a more suitable situation then what happened today for One to be played at.
