I've heard "All the Wine," "Mr. November," and "Abel," and that's it. That'll be rectified soon.

Ok, friends. Let me tell you about this concert I went to on Saturday. First off, I hadn't been down on my old campus for a football Saturday in a loooong time so it was a wild day. Ran into a bunch of old friends/acquaintances. Ran into the bottom of many beer cans. It was a blast. And the concert was exceptional, even if I didn't have the clearest mind working at the time.

I don't know if it was because I was in such a great mood or what, but the sound in the room was fucking immaculate. I don't know if it was the room itself, or whoever sets up the sound for THE NASH!...but that shit was loud and sharp and spot-on. They sounded great.

Laid back crowd up on the balcony except for me and my friend and also a random group of 3 or 4 middle aged women sitting behind us. So after a while, and after a bunch of people left to go wander around the art center...Berninger motioned for the balcony people to come down and fill the empty space and get "close enough to smell us"... as he said. Funny. And cool. The motherfucker had a glass in his right hand throughout most of the show, by the way.

I don't know the entire set, don't quote me, but I can run off pretty much everything I remember. They opened with a song I've never heard before. :reject:

Then it was...

Start A War
Mistaken For Strangers
Brainy
Secret Meeting
Slow Show

A few songs here I don't remember

Abel
All The Wine (It looked like Berninger was having words with the drummer during this, but I couldn't tell exactly what was going on. It was awesome, though. He might have just been saying "Hey drummer, we kick ass.")
Apartment Story
Fake Empire (this ended the first set and I nearly tossed my shoes on stage in excitement)

Then they came out and finished with...

Green Gloves
Mr. November
About Today

Great way to end it. Mr. November rocks like crazy. And the crowd was finally all into the show at that stage.

So, yeah. THE NASH! Every song I listed was a highlight...I know I'm forgetting lots of stuff. I suck. I'll spare you and won't tell you guys what I did the rest of the night after the show ended.

Then I woke up and saw U2.

I bet the opener was "Runaway." It's been opening for a bit now and is a new song from their upcoming album. Glad you enjoyed the show, GAF.

Here's GAF's setlist:

1. The Runaway
2. Start A War
3. Mistaken For Strangers
4. Brainy
5. Secret Meeting
6. Baby We'll Be Fine
7. Slow Show
8. Vanderlylle Cry Baby
9. Squalor Victoria
10. Abel
11. All The Wine
12. Ada
13. Apartment Story
14. Blood Buzz Ohio
15. Fake Empire

Encore:
16. Green Gloves
17. Mr. November
18. About Today

Pretty standard set from them, with the exception of "Ada," of which I'm quite jealous. Glad you enjoyed it, man.

I've been itching to see THE NASH! again since they opened for Arcade Fire a couple years back.

*Second best.

The show was great and it was a great day, the band sounded awesome, they played pretty much everything I wanted to hear (minus Karen and City Middle), Matt Berninger is now officially one of my favorite front men, and it was a really cool and intimate setting...but the U2 show still kicked its ass. Sorry. You may return to your regularly scheduled conversation about Lance, his mother, and the beer prices in Tijuana.

but the U2 show still kicked its ass. Sorry.

I guess that's understandable. Granted, they're probably two of the furthest shows from each other to compare fairly. I prefer smaller concerts too, so I'd probably lean towards THE NASH! putting on a more enjoyable concert, but I'm sure the U2 show was a spectacle to be seen.

Sounds like a great show, GAF. I'm jealous. I wish they would have played Friday night, i would have gone. I've still not seen them live, they haven't come through here. :(

The web-site got a welcome face lift, looks alott better now!

The National

"We'll update you on the new album we're working on later in the Fall or Winter.
Thanks"

Damn this album is taking so long!!! No doubt its gonna be phenomenal tho!!! :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:
So what songs have been played live off of the new album so far?
I haven't been on this thread now in a while, do we have any concrete info about the new release?

It's only been two years since the last one, I'd probably worry more if they'd rushed another one out in that time. They seem like the type of band that needs a decent amount of time to put something together (particularly after watching Vincent Moon's extremely unflattering film on Boxer).

Didn't the indications seem to be Spring 2010 for this album? I forget exactly where that came from.

Some time next year from what I remember as well, I don't know anything more specific than that. I guess we'll hear more about it later this fall or winter according to what Ronnie wrote.

Ah, Bryce had an interview with Pitchfork, that's what it was.

It's coming out January-May 2010. They've written twenty songs so far: before Matt's getting to them, they're all being named after Civil War battlefields, and then the titles are being changed once the lyrics are written.

Two tracks include The Runaway and Blood Buzz.

It'll be 11-12 songs.
