Fellow vinyl enthusiasts, there is an extremely limited pressing of Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers (only 500 copies) available now on the Brassland site. $18 and no shipping. I got mine. Now you get yours.

Ahhh, fucking awesome. Purchased. Thanks for the heads up, Impy!

Here's a summary of why The National is the greatest band today (apologies for errors, I'm drunk):

A lady friend of mine texts me tonight asking for a song to "fit her mood." She says she's "relaxed, chill, but with an edge. Can't explain it." I say, "All the Wine, by The National." She goes, "Oh, I apparently have that song from some disc someone gave me."

Three minutes later: "This fits perfectly."

High Violet. Tour. HYPE.

Wrong.

Nope. One or two shows in NYC was it. And, yes, thank fuck that we don't live in so creatively and artistically deprived a world as one in which a record by The National is the single best piece of music released in a calendar year.

Anyone who downloads a leak of this album is a fucking asshole.

And that's a FACT.

not only am i an asshole, but i found out where you live, and i'm going to park outside your house and blast it for the next 3 weeks while laughing hysterically.

I am a bad person with no self restraint

For the record, the quality isnt horrible at all. Terrible Love starts off sounding really low fi, but I think it might be how the recording is because when the vocals start over top, they sound just fine. I nearly turned it off before the vocals kicked in. That being said, the leak does sound a little muddy, but by no means horrible.

Also England

Just got this from The National's mailing list:

Hi everyone!

As you may have heard, there is a low quality leak of our new album, High Violet, spreading across the Internet as we speak. We wanted to let you know the New York Times - The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & Multimedia - will be streaming the real thing starting Friday April 23rd. We hope you'll take the time to hear the album at its intended level of quality.

High Violet will be released by 4AD worldwide on May 10th/11th.

Like gump said, its going to stream in high quality on Friday. I can wait til then.

For the record, I agree with Scumbo, there's something incredibly wrong about downloading a leak of this album. Maybe that makes me a hypocrite. Oh well.

Yeah, quality isn't great. But it's no worse than listening to something on a random car stereo.

Well that was pretty underwhelming. All I can say for now is I enjoyed both the new LCD and BSS quite a bit more on first listens.

I wasnt blown away, but I've never been blown away by a National album until about the 5th or 6th listen, so I'm not worried. Theres a lot of potential with these songs. Right now, its one of those albums where many of the songs seem to meld into one, but thats not always a bad thing
