This story was actually on the front page of CNN's website. It's sad that he died and I feel bad for his children, but still.

Queen's gynecologist dead at 82

LONDON, England (AP) -- Sir George Pinker, former Surgeon Gynecologist to Her Majesty the Queen, has died at age 82, his family said.

Pinker, who attended nine royal births including those of Princes William and Harry, died Sunday, the family said. The cause was not announced.

He was appointed to the royal post in 1973, and his first delivery for the family came that year with the birth of the Earl of Ulster, child of Queen Elizabeth II's cousin, the Duke of Gloucester and his wife.

Pinker was knighted in 1990, when he stepped down from his royal appointment.

Moderation was the key to a successful pregnancy, Pinker advised his patients.

"Lead as normal a life as possible without indulging in excesses, neither eating for two nor walking two miles a day if you are not used to it."

He is survived by three sons and a daughter.

ROFLMAO!!!!!

I don't mean to be disrespectful but that was so FUNNY!!!!

May he rest in peace and sincere condolences to his family.

Definitely. It's just odd that they did a story on him. I guess it's cool.

Regardless of how newsworthy you may think this is, I think it's inappropriate to be making jokes and laughing about a person who died.

Just because somebody is 82 years old as opposed to, say, 8 years old, it's not worth being respectful over?

what is the average life expectancy?

we will all die

if an 8 year old dies it is much more tragic

I'm not discussing the level of tragedy, I'm simply talking about respect for the loss of life, regardless of age or how it happened.

Bonochick, I completely understand your point but I didn't post it to make fun of his death.

People die all the time so why should this be on the front page over, say, someone else's death?

I'm sorry but we're all human here and the general consensus (at least in my office) when I showed them the story was that it was funny, not because he died, but because it was featured so prominently on CNN.

If I offended you or anyone else I sincerely apologize.

Anytime I see an obit for someone over 80 that died of natural causes or some ailment,
I just don't think it is that tragic.

My attitude is that they lived a pretty much complete life.

This was not the case with Chris Penn, Anna Nicole, or Jeff Buckley.

But, when Bob Hope of George Burns leaves us after a good long run my attitude is something like, "Wow, what a great life."

And there is also my personal life experiences of my mother's death at age 41, and my older sister's death at age 37.

These where lives cut short.

However my father's death at age 87 was much easier for me to reconcile.

It is a funny headline. (period)

If it said "Queen's Physician Dies" we would not even have noticed.

Once again...

I'm not talking about the level of tragedy, I'm talking about respect.

My grandma lived past her expectancy, doesn't mean I just brushed it off like, eh, it was her time. I was devastated by the loss. Nobody made light of her death or joked about it.

Sir George Pinker has loved ones too who I am sure are upset by his passing...like the three sons and daughters mentioned.

(Queens Gyno) + CNN Front Page News x "Pinker" = Funny.

Sucks that he died, but it sounds like he had a nice and full life, job, kids the whole 9. Plus he's probably one of 2 people in the world that saw...you know...."that" on the Queen.

He will be remembered. Cheers, Doc Pinker!

pawns and priests, no peeking

I know that if I had a funny name and or funny occupation and or died in a comical fashion I would expect people to talk about it...
Why is it a funny occupation? Were you not delivered by a doctor? Do you find urologists this funny?

I'm sure the only reason CNN put in on their front page was because they knew it would get people's attention.

I do know an urologist named

Dr. Dong

and people do kid him all the time.
people are like that.

As for doctor pinker,

how many times do you think a patient asked him:

"how does it look, pinker?"

My friend is in a media writing and editing class and they had a whole section about not writing headlines like this...not exactly like this but to the same extent sort of like the headline:
