Title: Peace

I'm not a religious person, but there are occasions where I feel very spiritual: seeing beautiful views in nature, and singing beautiful music in a choir. Music such as the Faure Requiem and Biebl's "Ave Maria" can move me to tears with its sheer beauty. I hear things like that and am convinced there is a god. (What a dichotomy - how can god inspire such violence and hatred in the world, but also inspire such beauty and reverence?)

I probably don't listen to as much classical music as other former music majors, but most of the classical music I do lean toward is of the choral variety. Aside from the occasional Mozart Requiem track or an opera bit I've heard here, I think most of the classical tunes that have landed in these competitions have been of the symphonic kind; I wanted to use a few choral pieces. But as you can see, it's not all classical music. I chose songs to keep the gentle mood going, and tried to choose songs that flowed together well.

So relax and listen. Let the music bring you to a peaceful place. And if you find yourself moved by any of the pieces, I shall share my box of tissues with you.

Liam has always been the most underrated competitor in these tournaments. I hope this edition proves to be an exception, because damn I love his tracklist.

Full credit to cori for a tracklist that I found engrossing in parts, but Liam's final trio is absolutely fantastic. Plus I like that while most of this tournament's compilations go from dark to a happy ending, Liam's just gets darker and darker until it spirals out of control and that's that.

Actually, if you recall, liamcool made the final four in the Prog Island game.

He's almost done as well as you.

This was really tough for me. liamcool's list is very good, especially since he did it at the last minute. Love the inclusion of Ultravox.

I thought cori's list was very well done and unique, and I loved the atmosphere of it. She gets my vote.

Heh, touche. Though, outside of those who care for prog and actually bothered to vote on that tournament, I think he's generally gone quite ignored.

I received all the playlists except for liamcool's, which doesn't seem fair.

I'm voting for cori's list because I think it's beautiful and exquisite and really nicely put together. The only weakness on the list for me is probably The Swan, and that's mainly because the MP3 seems to be recorded at a low volume level. And it took me several listens of MLK before I could accept an alternate version of the U2 original. But I've grown to like that version.

It's funny you say that, because ever since I submitted it, I'd wished I'd cut The Swan out, if only because there's too much cello at the beginning of the mix!

I got a couple of listens into Liam's today, and I actually really liked some of his stuff (from a person who has little interest in prog) but I loved how Cori mixed classical music with gentler songs from other genres with an overall very relaxing. I'm going that way here. She accomplished her goal of a gentle flow with flying colors.
