Ventured out to see ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER over the weekend. Easily PTA's most entertaining film since BOOGIE NIGHTS, my personal favourite since THERE WILL BE BLOOD. I was not prepared for how goofy it was going to be given the subject matter.
There's a lot to take away from this one, the themes and characters lend themselves to a few interpretations. Both sides of the political extremes are skewered and respected, I'd go as far to say that the dreaded horseshoe theory is alluded to, but ultimately it depicts a third point on the spectrum that it truly gets behind. Or you could ignore all that and view it as a film on modern parenting, or a straight up thriller with a climatic car chase directed by the ghost of Hitchcock.
Brilliant film, three stars.
