From U2place.com comes information that Nicoletta Mantovani, widow of tenor Pavarotti, recently deceased, is hoping to organize an event in memory of her husband.

The event called "Friends of Pavarotti" would be held at the Royal Albert Hall of London December 13 possibly.

Among invited artists would be Bono, The Edge, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Sting, Zucchero y Aretha Franklin.

For now nothing is confirmed.

If that was indeed the case, hope it would be televized.

Thanks.

Let's wait and see.

I have also read that there will be a concert organized by the Nelson Mandela foundation in South Africa on Dec. 1, World Aids Day. We know that Bono and Edge were participating in the 2003 concert 46664 and there was no information yet released about the performers for this year's concert, but some rumours have been going around that at least Bono would be there.

U2 haven't done a public performance since Cannes and Bono since he appeared in Germany at the P8 concert in June, so it would be verrrryyyy nice to see them perform again. Personally, I was a little disappointed that Bono (and Edge) did not perform at the Apollo theatre when they were at the Clinton event last week. On the other hand, maybe Bono did not want to take the attention away from the causes or from the other performers (Alicia Keys was so phenomenal!).

But, to go back on topic, a Pavarotti tribute would be great and somehow I can see at least part of U2 being there.

I read that too. i was thinking just the same, wouldn't it be great if they participated. it seems like that would be a definite "U2 type of event", if just Bono and The Edge, but preferably all 4 ;)"
