I think this is Pittsburgh ownership finally deciding to tank.
I know we're going back a decade and longer now but Ted Thompson, the Packers GM had an absolute horrible track record after the 2010 Super Bowl, and McCarthy (and Rodgers) really put a Band-Aid on it for quite a while. We had no business being in the playoffs or the championship games as much as we did considering the amount of whiffs we had on early draft picks.

gracias a dios por bad bunny is all i can say about that super bowl.

whatever one thinks about the blowout super bowl last year (i get that nobody except eagles fans liked it), at least somebody scored a meaningful touchdown in that game.

the best part of the night was when the entire bar booed tom brady, eli manning, and emmitt smith during the pregame show.

I just kept thinking the fact that Seattle kept kicking field goals in the first half would come back to bite them, and then I remembered that I wasn’t watching the Packers.

Have to imagine Maye's shoulder issues are bigger than they let on.

Josh McDaniels, terrible head coach as he may be, is a great offensive coordinator. He made zero adjustments to the play calling to counter Seattle's rush.

Yeah, it was really hard to tell if the stage was just too big for Maye or if there was really something going on. The fact that he struggled with the same blitz is both a coaching issue, and obviously not being seasoned enough to change the protections at the line of scrimmage. That can be something that plagues quarterbacks their first couple of years.

I just think it was a combination of all those factors.

Maye divulged after the game that he had to get a shot for the shoulder, so clearly something was not quite right there, but...

It did also seem like the moment was a bit too big for him right now. Even with the shoulder some of those calls were very straightforward and he rushed through things. Which also means...

McDaniels, for as great as he is, didn't have his best game here. In addition to screens and slants, why not have Maye run more? It's been a major component to his game and they totally didn't go there. Perhaps they were worried about the shoulder but he's been pretty good at sliding when needed so I think that was a missed opportunity.

The game was still there for the taking in the third quarter, and they've normally been very good with halftime adjustments. Not this time.

Not taking away from what Seattle did it all, but dammit this season is such a bummer. Packers legit looked like the best team in the NFL when they’re up 9 at Denver, and that was with both Wyatt and Kraft on IR. 10 minutes later they lost Parsons for the year. I truly believe the Packers would have won it all if they stayed healthy.

It also really shows, even more now, how screwed that call against the Bills was. Even though the Pats played the Bills well this year, I'm not convinced they would have beaten Josh Allen again, and I think Buffalo would have handled Seattle yesterday.
Also true. Just shows how hard it is to win the Super Bowl. Sometimes you just need so many things to go your way.

I do have a question for our two Patriots fans here, and please do not take this as rubbing it in because this is not my intention at all.

But now that you have won 6 and the lost 6. Are you a bit more numb to both the highs and lows? Or are you as jubilant/crushed every time?

Through the Brady years, it was tense every time, for different reasons. The beginning of the dynasty, obviously the 2007 defeat was devastating, and then the second act when you started to think they might not win another one. And every single game went down to the wire. Each one was riveting.

This one felt different, at least to me. I don't want to make it seem like we were just glad to be there, but it was a very unexpected run and it looks good for the future. Hopefully it's the start of something good.

I will say though, my youngest daughter really got into them this year, so from her perspective, and being too little or not really caring about what happened before, she was much more disappointed than I was.
