Yeah, while I think Lawrence is a better QB than Jones, at some point, the dude has to start producing. Seems like the narrative around the two are different:
Lawrence - This is THE YEAR!
Jones - This is his LAST YEAR!

i think they're both mediocre at best - and the only reason why people are giving Lawrence more runway is because a) he was the first overall pick and everyone thought he was can't miss, and b) he's in Jacksonville and not New York.
regardless - Danny Nickles is certainly not the root cause of yesterday's loss. that would be the head coach and the general manager, who have gone from saviors to clown shows in record time.
you have a kicker with a groin injury. you have an open roster spot. you do not bring up a second kicker as a backup (despite having a rookie kicker on your practice squad) - and your hurt kicker gets hurt even more on the opening kickoff (which didn't even count because of a penalty).
you then lose the game pretty much strictly based on the fact that you have no kicker - scoring 18 points on three touchdowns (and no extra points) - and forcing a fourth down go for it in easy chip shot range late in the fourth quarter, at a time where you should have been running out the clock.
it's not taking a knee on second down, but it's close.

Unfortunately Barkley still mustered enough points for me to lose this week, despite scoring 152.

I actually think both Lawrence and Jones could both still be good QBs. All you have to do is look at what guys like Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold are doing. Some guys just need time.
Jones has shown flashes of brilliance. That playoffs game against Minnesota was absurd. He's also, ya know, has games where he's throwing pick sixes on screen passes.
There's so much money involved in QBs these days that there's no ability for guys to sit and learn anymore. Green Bay being possibly the lone exception.

Or (and more likely the case) the most talented QB (Caleb) went to the worst organization a QB can go to and will suffer as a result.
Meh - maybe. It's early days, we'll see how it plays out.
But Caleb had a meh year last year for USC and for better or worse he seems to care a bit too much about his off the field image - which seems like a get off my lawn old guy yells at cloud kinda thing to say, but QBs need to be obsessive about studying and learning, especially as rookies - and Caleb, well, doesn't seem to be about that life just yet.

I hope the Patriots stay the course and be patient with Maye, at least until maybe Thanksgiving. Get your left tackle in the next draft and have them grow together.

That’s the way to do it. Rarely do you get the success ala Stroud when they start right away.
So far the refs have called a personal foul on the wrong team, killing a Giants drive, and then picked up a flag that would have taken a Dallas touchdown off the board and killed their drive.
