At around the 44:50 mark, he says:
“I have to tell you, we’re working on a lot of new songs. There might be a new u2 song happening very soon, which you’ll hear about. I can’t say any more than that. But we’re in a great place creatively.”
Something about that phrasing makes me think it’s a standalone track, perhaps another movie tie in like ‘Your Song Saved My Life’, rather than the lead single of the next album or anything like that (though I should admit I haven’t listened to the whole thing, maybe in context it makes more sense).
Given all indications are an album is about a year away, and that they’ve been doing more standalone releases the last few years, I imagine it’ll be something like that (if it does happen). Something to help fill in the ever widening gap between albums. Wouldn’t be surprised if we got a couple of ‘Invisible’/‘Atomic City’ style releases, especially if the next album isn’t out until 2026.
