HEAR THE ALBUM FIRST

They're mixing HTRAAB in dolby atmos! Just one step away from producing it on bluray for the best quality. I would definately buy such a disc!
If they didn’t release a blu-ray audio disc for AB, no chance with Bomb. Meanwhile The Cure’s new album is available on combo CD and blu bc they’re not idiots.

What is dolby atmos?
Multichannel high resolution audio, a lot used in movies. Lots of artists releasing atmos mixes nowadays. Some of them on bluray ( tears for fears , duran duran, Peter gabriel, ultravox, cure, pink floyd, steven wilson etc.). Some of them like tff and dd are outstanding mixes by Steven Wilson. Never heard such a great music quality.

i'm one of those weirdos who prefers the album version to the Adele version, not that it's perfect.

he is singing beautifully though.

There was a Rolling Stone article after the release that talked about Tedder's main contributions to Every Breaking Wave. He added the new chorus melody and moved the old chorus to the bridge (structure-wise, I believe?), and the band continued working on it on top of those changes.

If that's the case, then the "Alternate Mix" that was posted would still be based on his contributions, just with the different production they probably toyed around with afterwards to get it done.

I'm one of those weirdos who refuses to listen to any version but the one with the electric guitar. The official version would be my least favorite song on SOI if I didn't purge it from my custom tracklisting, now it's Iris.

In case you forgot what it sounded like when it had a pulse:

I'm with you. (Not on the least favorite song on SOI, that's SFS by a mile for me.)

I thought I was on an island with Iris; my personal least-favorite on that album.

I do prefer the album version of EBW, but now that I've listened to this alternate version, it may be de-throned. Thanks for providing that!

for me, SOI is the only instance of a U2 album where side B is superior to side A. I'd maybe make the argument for Rattle and Hum if it were a normal studio album, but I dont think they'd sequence it the same way if it were just the studio tracks

It's the only instance of a U2 album where the B sides are better than anything on the album.

The presence of Chris Martin and that "woo woo woo" stuff is a dealbreaker.

A shame, because I think the verses are very good and kind of TUF-reminiscent. But the pre-chorus and chorus sink it into generic tedium.

Wow,forgot how bad that version was. A hot mess, and people slag off happiness for sounding unfinished.

U2 got Lady Gaga to be on a track and didn't publicize it, release it, or even have it so that it was noticable that she was on the track unless you already knew.

They had enough pop culture sense and clout to work with both Gaga and Kendrick in the mid-2010s, and somehow failed to turn either of those collabs into a hit.

I'd argue that had they not botched the SOI release, The Troubles would have earned them a fair amount of cred in the indie world due to Lykke Li and how great she is on that track.

I love the little guitar part that sounds like a flute under water at about 1:28 but yeah I don’t understand the love for this version. The chorus is so awkward and clunky.

Sure hope they wuss out on the political touchpoints in favor of “together” on the next tour like they idiotically did on JT30…
