speaking of awful trades...

Pelinka goes out and gets the positive end of an absolute steal of a trade - but it costs you all your depth at center - and your solution is to trade your contributing first round pick from this year plus another first round pick for a guy who is always hurt. that's bad enough... but then the guy goes and fails his physical AFTER the trade deadline, so you can't adjust?

yikes.

Lakers gonna Laker.
I predict Luka plays in less than 10 games for LA the rest of the season.
Trade will be won by team with lowest hospital bills.

Nah. They'll keep rolling. I think this is going to be the best thing to ever happen to Luka. He didn't need any more motivation to be great, but the Mavs not just trading him but shitting on him on his way out the door? Welp, if he didn't need it, he has it now regardless.

Combine that with being next to LeBron, who can help him learn about taking care of his body better?

The Mavs just unleashed the next 15 years of Laker excellence.

And you know I can't stand the Lakers. But we're going to be TALKING LAKERS for a while because of this.

LAKERS need to move on from lebron and put the ball in Luka's hand as fast as humanly possible before it's too late.

it's probably already too late for this season - but they should 100% let lebron walk in the offseason.

the trade is a win - but not for the short term. that roster is trash. they have zero rim protection and their defense just generally sucks. the ball needs to be in luka's hands with lebron as the number two option cutting and posting - similar to his most successful years in Miami.

if lebron doesn't want to play that role? let him walk.

"Bobby unintentionally took a pain medication called tramadol, thinking he was taking a pain medication called Toradol. Toradol is an approved pain medication that he has used previously and that teams and players use for pain and inflammation at times. Tramadol, however, is not an approved pain medication and was just recently added to the banned substance list this past spring. The tramadol pill he took came from an assistant of his, with a valid prescription for the painkiller, which he mistakenly told Bobby was Toradol. This was, again, an honest mistake that was made because of the similarity in the names of the drugs and the fact they both serve a very similar purpose. Bobby was using this anti-inflammatory pain-reducing medication to deal with an elbow injury he had this past fall and believed he was taking Toradol to alleviate some pain in preparation for that night's game."

Damn, if the Lakers could only fill the void left by AD, they'd be able to...*checks notes*...

Luka Doncic scored 32 points in his best game by far with the Lakers, leading Los Angeles to a 123-100 runaway win at Denver on Saturday night that snapped the Nuggets' nine-game winning streak.

LeBron James added 25 points, Austin Reaves scored 23 and Rui Hachimura had 21 when he left holding his left side with 10 minutes remaining — the Lakers didn't miss him, going on a 12-2 run to stretch their lead to 19.

Nikola Jokic posted his 26th triple-double of the season, but he was just 2 of 7 from the floor with six turnovers.

I had a parade for the Bucks NBA Championship this past year. It was just me walking around my cul-de-sac telling "woohoo" for about 4 minutes.

it's still a small sample size - but i have to give a tip of the hat to JJ Redick for somehow making the Lakers a better defensive team since the Luka trade. and he did, indeed, put the ball more in Luka's hands than LeBron's - which was not a guarantee. so props to JJ.

Lakers have the third hardest schedule left - 9 of their remaining 23 games are against OKC, Denver, Houston, Boston, New York and Memphis. so we'll see if this lasts - but so far it's been impressive what he's been able to do.

which makes the new punching bag for ineptitude when trying... checks notes... the PHOENIX SUNS! congrats to the suns.
