A few things about Juan Soto. I don't think he's worth 50 mil a year, but the market is dictating that's his worth. I'd never begrudge any player from seeking as much money as possible, though. He was great with Judge and he should be great with Lindor. If he's in NYC, there will be ample endorsement opportunities for him. Naturally, I want him to stay a Yankee because there's nothing like being a Yankee. (Even though they haven't won in 15 years) But, if he brings the Mets a World Series victory, he'll be a hero forever and never have to pay for a lemon ice at The Lemon Ice King of Corona.

"No idea," Steinbrenner said when asked if he was confident the team would re-sign Soto. "We'll be in the mix. I'll leave it at that."

---

"I could say that about a couple other owners too," Steinbrenner said when asked about Cohen's spending power. "Or corporations, for that matter, that represent the ownership group. So, I mean, of course it's a concern."

Hal's getting nervous.

I think the Yankees were under the impression that, more than likely, 2024 would be his only season with the team. They won 12 more games and made it the World Series. Not too shabby. I think the Yankees should gut the team and plug in either some free agents, young talent or make some trades. They have Judge in the outfield somewhere and Jazz at 2nd or 3rd. The rest are all question marks. They have two shitty hitting catchers who can't throw out base stealers, so even they should go.

I can remember 2 years ago thinking Judge was gonna sign elsewhere, but then that 11th hour deal happened. I'm a winner either way because I think Soto will sign with a NY team. lol! I'd be happy for Mets fans if he signed with them. Of course, I'd be ecstatic if he stayed in The Bronx. And imagine if Stanton could survive a season with minimal injury. The dude could actually be a beast.

Gotta give it to the Dodgers. Fitting that Snell contract under the salary cap is impressive, to say the least.

There is no salary cap. They're buying the championship. The Yankees have tried that several times. It only worked 15 years ago. :ROFLMAO:

Watching Yankee fans go from crying that the Mets overpaid for Soto because he's not going to be the same player at 35 to celebrating giving 8 years to a 31 year old pitcher with back to back seasons cut short with forearm issues is quite the scene.

Not you, mrpryck... but the general Yankee "Universe" is really going through it these last few days

Dude, you know what's hilarious? I can't stand most Yankee fans. They're spoiled by championships won decades ago. The Mets heisted a player the Yankees almost had, and they can't deal with it. Fried is the team's "Plan B". Lol! Naturally, I'm rooting for the guy to do well, but injuries will happen.

it's a bit absurd.

i had genuinely stopped caring at all about the yankees... not dealing with these type of yankee fans on a daily basis will do that to a guy.

but watching the reactions have been utterly hilarious and, in many cases, downright stupid. like the folks who keep pointing to the mets pitching staff or lineup without alonso right now... as if Uncle Stevie is just going to stop spending, especially when you consider they're still at a $100 million dollar deficit in comparison to last year's annual payroll.

mets are very much in play for Garrett Crochet right now, will likely bring back Alonso, and are considered a likely desitination for Roki Sasaki. this offseason is just getting started
