"That's what's happening to U2 on tour in the United States at the moment - we're just a conduit for all this joy and hope and despair and it's all coming out - People say, 'Oh, Rock and Roll is great - just takes people's minds off of it' - No. That is not our job. Our job is to take people's minds through it." --Bono's take on the Elevation Tour since 9/11

Joe mama ?!? I don't get it...

One of these days, someone has got to explain these "knock knock" jokes to me...if i'm correct, the answer to "who's there?" question is the punch line, right?
So...of all Joes, what is so funny about Joe mama?

Actually, U2girl, they are anti-climatic jokes. The punchline actually come before the concluding answer to "who's there".
In this case the punchline is "joe"...get it

But Johnny first said "joe" after the question "who's there" came up.

ps: aren't these jokes usually continued? You know:
knock knock
who's there?
(let's say) Jack
jack who?

punchline

So-the puncline would be Joe mama.
Right?

wow, us U2 fans are very skeptical and analyitical, we analyse rock concert setlists, analyse rock star hairstyles, analyse rock star shoes and attire..and now the interpretation and moral significance of Knock Knock jokes

I see. So it's really "your mama" and not plain "joe mama". Got it.
