Haha - nice slam on the blog. Security measures in general have gotten out of control. There will come a time when people have had enough, but not to thread jack- u2 is gonna play Baltimore in a few minutes and Lansing in exactly 96 hours.. :)

No, I'm glad you jacked it back the other way... although purse policy is retarded - I GET TO SEE THE EDGE IN 96 HOURS!!!! :D :D :D :D WITHOUT MY PURSE! (I actually have a U2 purse, if you can believe it).
 
Alright yeah, we've decided against buying another 2 GA tickets in hope of getting close to the stage, our lower bowl seats are already quite awesome so im not gonna complain. Is anyone interested in meeting up before the concert? I reallly want to trying and figure out the entrance that u2 will be using to get into the stadium. last time my dad saw them in Toronto, two years ago, bono was outside the stadium signing autographs and taking pictures, etc. that would unreal to meet them!

It would be :hyper: I was there in TO when Bono came out too. I couldn't believe it! I was like in a daze and just stood there and took pics lol.

There was a list of gates and parking lots that will be closed off for the show posted somewhere on the MSU site...might want to start trying to figure out a process of elimination. :hmm:
 
Does anyone know of any transportation services to the concert? Charter buses and so on? I couldn't find anything via google. I live in Troy (I know many of you are coming from much further) and I'm trying to avoid the navigating/parking issues. Thanks.

Since the ga lineup is on the north side and from the map and closed lots it looks like all the gear and VIP parking is on the south, imma guess the south gates.

Good luck - I'd love to do the same but will be in ga line...
 
Our seats are south side seats anyways, so we are figuring on hanging out down there and maybe we'll get lucky. We hung out for over 4 hrs in 100 degree heat for Tampa in '09 and we were right along the security rail when the SUVs rolled by. Had the band not been running behind (and had to do a satellite hookup during the show), B & Co. would have been out to say hi. Bono was waving and hanging out of the window as the SUVs crawled by though!! Better than nothing!

Meeting them would be AMAZING, but I just want to be able to see arrivals so that my son can see them somewhat close-up, since our seats are up high, lol.
 
I mean, at the Chicago show in '09 people were handing out Blackberry backpacks so it just seems silly we can't bring our own purses. (I get Blackberry's a sponsor but still). It's easier and more comfortable to bring a purse than stuff lady things in my pockets. I'd bring mine but I'd be a little nervous they might take it away. I am not getting out of line to put it back in the car.

3 days :hyper: I hope to be at the inner rail. Last time I was between Bono and The Edge, that was a fun spot.

P.S. Isn't the rivalry with the Buckeyes between U of M? I know where I live that game is almost as big as when MSU plays U of M. But I know little of football...

I had NO trouble hauling my big-ass Bono Rolling Stone bag into Tampa's Raymond James Stadium in '09. I had a change of clothes in there for heaven's sake! All security did was take a minute and paw through it and hand it back! It would have taken longer to take it away from me!:huh:

Usually between 3 and 4? The only time we camped out previously was in Tampa in '09 and they didnt show up until after 4 bc they were running behind. (Before that, my 1st U2 show was Vertigo Pittsburgh and we didn't show up all that early since it rained that day and I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with my son.)

Yes, the big rivalry is Ohio State and stupid Michigan. MSU not so much.
But pretty much anytime a Michigan team plays an Columbus team it's a big deal.
Being from Columbus and now living in Michigan I get to deal with shit talking before any Ohio State Michigan/MSU game.


I have gotten e-mails from Ticketmaster about the no purse thing, and seen articles in the Detroit papers about it. So they are clearly NOT changing that policy.
 
Dammit - someone just offered me money for my ga tix... I'm gonna be in Chicago on the 5th and am tempted to trade out.. Wait a minute , it's gonna be gorgeous and I'll get to meet all you fine people... Screw it I'm going to Lansing and bringing my guitar as long as someone promises to save my spot so I can run it back to the car.. :)

I'll just be bringing a jacket with large pockets, stuff them full with my camera, wallet, phone, tickets, sunglasses, water etc. and tie the arms together to create a make-shift shoulder-bag. There's no rule against that!:shifty:
 
Alright, well I will most definitely be out around the South side entrances.. If anyone has anymore ideas as to where U2's entrance whereabouts are that would awesome. I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of The Edge, I'm bringing this framed picture from the Unforgettable Fire years and I'm gonna see if I can get it signed. And if not, we still get to see them live anyways! 2 days! Can't wait. So is anyone interested in joining me (18 years old) and my awesome mom in a man hunt of u2 before the show? Not exactly a man hunt but basically trying to find the entrance they'll be coming through?! Get back to me!
 
JUST SO YOU KNOW:

The north strip of MSU's campus (aka two minutes walking from Spartan Stadium) is Grand River, which has a decent number of restaurants and stores and fun places to kill time.

There's also a record store, Flat Black and Circular (flatblackandcircular.com), and if you're interested in either 1.) spending time and maybe money in a great college record store, although I've probably cleaned out the U2 supply, or 2.) talking to the owners about music and maybe particularly U2's performance in EL 30 years ago, which at least one of the guys had seen, I recommend you check FBC out. It's right above Chipotle.

Yeah that's kind of the plan I'm going with. Either that or an oversized ladies wallet that I can make a makeshift clutch out of.
Damn MSU making our lives difficult! Oh well, U2 is worth it!! :hyper:
