iPod Hard Drive Replacements

So I was talking to the IT manager here in the office. I asked him about replacing the battery and he gave me a link. http://ipodparts.com/ They replace batteries and could add a bigger hard drive (100GB). Expensive though.

Since an iPod essentially is a hard drive, why would one "upgrade" rather than just buy a new one with more storage space?
