I read a quote in a mag that when asked why she chose to cover that song, she said, "Because I love Pat Benatar!"
Wow...*lol*
Ugh, I read that too. That is so dumb -- Pat Benatar doesn't look very much like Joan Jett at
all (besides the hair, what else is there?), and Joan Jett sounds a LOT different than Pat Benatar. I'm no expert at all on Pat Benatar or Joan Jett, but didn't they make quite different music than the other?

However, Britney has just proved the stereotype of "dumb blond" - which is a disservice to the many brilliant women I know who happen to have blond hair.
To make matters worse, Britney covered "I Love Rock and Roll" and then stated that she never heard of Joan Jett - AFTER she covered the song! Incredible!
That is true -- the "dumb blonde" stereotype fits Britney perfectly. And I am convinced she isn't a natural blonde, either -- if you see some of her early teenage (or child, even) pictures she has practically dark brown hair. Very very different. So is Christina Aguilera, I remember correctly -- she had very dark hair too, and now hers is practically white.
At least Britney's looks closer to natural.

"You must not look down on someone just 'cos they are 14 years old. When I was that age I listened to the music of John Lennon and it changed my way of seeing things, so I'm just glad that 14 year olds are coming to see U2 rather than group X." - Bono, 1988
