Its at times when I read things like this that I thank God that I am a U2 fan. God bless U2!

"I'm sorry. I'm very young."
-- Britney Spears, explaining why she's never heard of either Yoko Ono or Linda McCartney to Foxnews.com.

It's a sad, sad day when I can outsmart Britney... sigh. And I'm almost 10 years younger!

"You must not look down on someone just 'cos they are 14 years old. When I was that age I listened to the music of John Lennon and it changed my way of seeing things, so I'm just glad that 14 year olds are coming to see U2 rather than group X." - Bono, 1988

I first became a U2 fan when I was 13.

How long have you been a fan?

Oh -- well, Beautiful Day first caught my eye back in November 2000 and I fell in love with the song right away, and then I got All That You Can't Leave Behind, and then... LOST it. So I didn't hear it until May 2001. My mom took me to the 5/1 Minneapolis concert, which prompted me to get my mitts on any U2 album I could find.

I listened to Achtung Baby and ATYLCB for almost 2 months straight. I went to 7 more concerts (thank god my mom loves U2 as much as I do!) and I have all the albums and everything now.

Eek -- sorry for running on a bit.

elevatedmole is actually one of the most intelligent 13 yr olds here, imo.

Britney on the other hand, is a complete idiot.

I agree, for 13, you are basically a "genius" elevatedmole!

However, Britney has just proved the stereotype of "dumb blond" - which is a disservice to the many brilliant women I know who happen to have blond hair.

To make matters worse, Britney covered "I Love Rock and Roll" and then stated that she never heard of Joan Jett - AFTER she covered the song! Incredible!

I read a quote in a mag that when asked why she chose to cover that song, she said, "Because I love Pat Benatar!"

Wow...*lol*

what difference does it make how dumb she is.

everyone in here is talking about her so she has done her job.

i'm not saying you shouldn't be talking about her

Ugh, I read that too. That is so dumb -- Pat Benatar doesn't look very much like Joan Jett at all (besides the hair, what else is there?), and Joan Jett sounds a LOT different than Pat Benatar. I'm no expert at all on Pat Benatar or Joan Jett, but didn't they make quite different music than the other?

That is true -- the "dumb blonde" stereotype fits Britney perfectly. And I am convinced she isn't a natural blonde, either -- if you see some of her early teenage (or child, even) pictures she has practically dark brown hair. Very very different. So is Christina Aguilera, I remember correctly -- she had very dark hair too, and now hers is practically white.

At least Britney's looks closer to natural.

Heard a great Britney reference on the radio when I went to get lunch earlier;
(Paraphrasing female DJ):"Today's weather is deceiving...when you look it's quite beautiful, but when you get outside its actually frigid....kind of like Britney Spears."

It's truly imressive that someone can reach adulthood while still being THAT oblivious to the world around them. Doesn't the theory of Natural Selection kick in at some point?

wow, she knows Pat Benatar?!?!

I haven't heard that name in 15 years

Gosh she is so stupid it's like every time she opens her mouth it's a cat litter box. Her vacantness overshadows her beauty.

It is hard to believe...yet, just to play devil's advocate here, perhaps she's more sheltered than dumb. She didn't have a normal childhood--she was being primed for stardom from the get-go. Her whole life has been about training very aggressively for her career. I think she only attended one year of high school. It's not her fault that her parents pushed her like that. She might be very bright about the things she's interested in.

Ok, that was my best shot at trying to make sense of the incomprehensible. Britney, honey, you're on your own now, lol...

That's a good point, joyfulgirl. However, as you pointed out, she may be brighter in the subjects she is most interested in, BUT if she loves music so much, how can she be so obviously uneducated in that field? Still, she might be more knowledgable in more basic pop, I suppose, but STILL.. she is as dumber than a brick sometimes.
