In South Africa, 'flossy' or rather 'flossie' refers to female genitaelia. Thus, when my father used to announce we'd be taking the Flossie (South African nickname for the military aircraft seen here) into Namibia, my younger sister and I used to giggle nonstop. 'We're flying in a flossie!'

I think my grandmother would actually get a huge kick out of that. Her name was officially 'Florizel,' but everyone called her either 'Flossy,' or 'Flossie,' (which I called her).

This thread has been hugely educational. Especially good stuff to know, in case I travel through back alleys, or visit South Africa...and especially since my one and only tattoo on my arm says Flossie.
