I need some help here. Tonight they're playing here in Athens and I don't know what to do...
I mean I like them but I'm not a huge fan. I've read many bad reviews about the European tour and the fact that they've been playing a lot of songs from 'Exciter' is quite dissapointing to me... I wouldn't say I loved it to death.
Have you attended any of the US gigs? How were they?

I saw DM in Hamburg last month. I wouldn't say that it was bad, but it sure wasn't great. They played quite some new songs off Exciter (which actually sound better live than on the record), most of the 90s singles, some Violator album tracks (Halo, Clean) and only a few big hits (Enjoy The Silence, Never Let Me Down Again and Personal Jesus). Not a really great setlist. The Singles-Tour was much better.

I went to see DM last week in the UK. I've been a fan for many years and wasn't sure whether to go an see them on the Exciter tour. I saw them on their Greatest Hits Tour and I wasn't that impressed - they seemed to have lost that 'spark'. However, I'm really glad I went to see them last week. They rocked! Dave Gahan was in really good spirits and had loads of energy. They played quite alot of material from their new album and also quite a bit of their old stuff. My advice is this: GO! I came away from the concert looking forward to their next album and tour!

I saw them here in June and thought they were pretty great. I wish they would have played more old stuff, but Dave Gahan was nice to look at for 2 hours.

I saw them in L.A. in August twice actually. I must say that I think they've lost A LOT of their luster. Their setlist was just way to weak and slow at times, but still decent songs. Songs like Never Let Me down again were a huge dissappointment. It seemed like sythesizers were missing and it seemed incredibly bland. It was nothing compared to the singles tour.

Just my two cents,
Joe
