For instance I always skip New York when I listen to ATYCLB or Miami when I listen to Pop. Did you start doing the same in HTDAAB or are you still in the phase of getting to know with the songs?

Since I've only listened to the album twice, I haven't but that's funny because I almost always skip NY & Miami. NY is so overrated by fans here. I hate the lyrics to that song so much.

Plus, I'm streaming the album at work so I like to listen to the entire thing.

So far, the only songs I don't love are Crumbs & One Step. The album is so strong that even those two songs are good.

I'll have to wait till the 23rd to give an answer ;).

I do skip "Kite" on ATYCLB, makes me cry sometimes, the lyrics. Especially after the Slane DVD where Bono's visibly upset.

Skipping songs after a 1 1/2 weeks? Talk about ADD. You should be ashamed. Let these tunes find a place in your life, a memory, whatever. If you start skipping songs now, you're close-minded.

But HTDAAB is all good!...to me its perfection every song! :dance:

I don't skip songs, but to be honest, I actually find myself listening to the second half of the album more than the first.

I skip A Man and a Woman... still a good song but the sound and mindset of the song aren't where I'm at.

Me too. I have not downloaded Orgin of Species or Yaweh cuz I want to save a little something. I don't skip anything else though. I listen to everything else all the time. Everytime I listen to Crumbs I find something new about the song that I like.

I feel the same about the last three songs of HTDAAB... I feel like those three songs closed the album well. I was a little slow really getting into One Step..., OOTS, and Yahweh... but now, its probably my favorite part of the album.

Jesus man have you got a thing against the cities of America, THEY ARE FANTASTIC TRACKS. How can you skip New York and go to crappy Grace instead.:huh:

I skip Yahweh and OOTS, I've burned a disk without them on it and replaced them with Mercy and Fast Cars, now I have the perfect no filler album!

Half the time I listen to the whole thing and half the time I skip. Though I am not skipping songs I don't like, I am just skipping to what I want to hear at that moment, which changes on a regular basis. :wink:

I often play the full thing. The songs I'm more prone to pass are:
  • "Miracle Drug" (highly over-rated, IMO, on this board);
  • "Sometimes..." (great song, but very emotional - especially for a work setting or a car ride home);
  • "A Man and a Woman "(good song, not my favorite);
  • "Crumbs from Your Table" (same situation as "Sometimes..." and "A Man and a Woman");
  • "One Step Closer" (not a bad track, but perhaps the weakest on the album);
  • "Yahweh" (ditto to the above)

In place, I add "Mercy" and "Fast Cars" and often a remix of "Vertigo".

Note that the songs skipped aren't hated or always skipped. I just find myself ADORING :drool: "Love and Peace or Else", "City of Blinding Lights" and "All Because of You". Those three songs really make the album come alive. How anyone skips "Love and Peace..." is beyond my comprehension.

I skip "A Man and a Woman." I despise it. I've listened to it over fifty times, now, so it isn't a case of my not giving the song enough time or opportunity to grow on me. It's pretty simple: bad music doesn't EVER grow on me. The song doesn't have to be shit for everyone else, but it sure is for me. Yikes... Otherwise, though, I typically listen to it the whole way through; unless, of course, I'm conciously just listening to one or two songs at a time. The album is very album-ish, so to speak, and it lends itself VERY well to spins of individual songs as well as whole album spins.
