Did Bono ever appear in the video??

I read somewhere that Bono was NOT supposed to appear in the "What?s going on-video". I haven?t seen it yet, but now a friend of mine (who has seen it) says Bono does appear in the video?! Is that true?

Then again, the video on MTV right now isn't the real video.. just edited together by MTV types. I read the proper video will have people with masks or words or something? There was article about it on the site which cannot be named.
