can mpegs be rotated?

i took some mpeg video with my digital camera yesterday at the sci fi convention of chase masterson (leeta from ds9 for those who are wondering) singing. well, to get all of her in the frame, silly me wasn't thinking and turned the camera vertical. so now i have some really great video of her singing but it is sideways.

i know i'm probably out of luck on this
