    Bad - solo

I know what you mean about it being easy, but to get it to sound just right took a fair bit of practice for me. Personally I think the open strings make it sound fuller and helps me keep in time.

    Bad - solo

OK I thought I'd answer my own question, now that I've figured it and can paly it. Delay is 440 to 450ms with 4 fading repeats. The key is to play it "backwards" to the way you hear it. This is because of the delay. A e----12-------12-------12-------12----------...

    Best At Home practice setup

I use a DigiTech RP250 and play it through a Line 6 Spider III 15w via the CD/MP3 input which bypasses all the Spider's effects so I get a clear crisp sound. I use RP250's AC30 sim. I find I can get pretty close to every sound from Streets to I will Follow to UTEOTW and EBTTRT. Its only...

    Howdy from an old fan

Yeah sure did. You'll often hear Bono saying in the introductions, ya know the way he does, ".....and on drums we have Mr. Artane Boys Band.....". (he says it on the Slane DVD) The Artane Boys Band is based in my old school, and he got kicked out 'cause he had to get his hair cut. Bear in...

    Howdy from an old fan

Howya. Massive U2 fan and have been since, Oh le’me see, probably 1986, when I woulda been 14 phew. First U2 album I bought was The JT and have been pretty much hooked since. I suppose I got it from my sis and bro. My sis often talks about going to see them play in the Dandy-line market in...

how does edge get so many drive tones

Can I also suggest that if you want a Edge in a box type approach then have a good look at the Vox Tonelab LE and Line 6 Pod XT Live. I don't have either of them but from what I gather from other Edge wannabe's either of these two boxes will get you at least 90% of the way there.

    Amp setting for Edge sound/tone

hey, try looking at this site there's a load of Edge info, you may be dig through what you're looking for. A Study of The Edge’s Guitar Delay (U2)

What stompboxes did The Edge use during the Elevation and Vertigo tours?

One of the most important, and cheapest, things to getting the Edge sound is to use the Herdim pic's, and use them upside-down. Hold the at the narrow end and strike the strings with the wide-end, where you would normally hold. The dimples of pic give a beautiful "edge" feel to it, no pun...

    what kind of guitar

£99 is about 180USD. It's a great little unit, dripping with a platora of sounds and tones. Can I also suggest the Vox AD30VT amp, it seems to have some useful features. I've not used one but it gets great reviews. Infact I'll be getting one soon. It has a nice setting to model the Vox AC30...

    Half Stack?

I presume if you’re hanging out on this site you play lots of U2 stuff. If so, why not go for the Vox AC30, like Edge. It’s part of Edge’s sound.

    what kind of guitar

As ppl have said above you’ll be able to cover most Edge sounds with a Strat and Epiphone Les Paul Custom. That said you can still get ALL the sounds with just one guitar. I have a Pacifica 112v and it’s a HSS and I can get pretty close to most sounds, including Mysterious Ways, I will Follow...

    DSLRs

It depends on your budget. The D80 although about to be replace is still a fantastic camera, as will the D90. You can get lightly used D200 at reasonable prices at the mo and it’s a stunning camera. Semi-pro. D300, too advanced for a beginner which I presume you are. I’m not a big fan of...

Aspiring Edge in the Bedroom - What Next?

For what it’s worth, I’ve just bought a DigiTech RP250 multi-effects pedal. I’ve spent the weekend playing with it and I already have the sound for Streets, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, Bullet, EBTTRT (thou this needs to be fine tuned) lovely use of Whammy at the start and I’ve also...

    Easy U2 Songs

As returning guitarist, I haven’t played for about 3 years, thou I played for 4-5 years prior to that, I thought I’d put together a list of the easier U2 songs I’ve been playing of late. I think some people get too hung up on Edge’s sound, although very original and distinctive, most of them...

Aspiring Edge in the Bedroom - What Next?

Personally unless you're gonna be jamming or playing live there's just no need for an AC30. If like me, you'll mostly be jamming at home, occasionally record and put on youtube.com then spending £500 (900USD) on an amp is not an option, unless you have the money of course. Oh and an AC30 would...

Pride and I Still havent Found chords and tabs

Here's Pride for ya. The solo can be a little tricky to get the timing. I used to sit watching TV with my guitar not plugged in and just play this solo to build up the strength of my little finger. Delay is about 0.400 to 0.450s. Have fun Intro : E---12-------10---12-------10----...

Aspiring Edge in the Bedroom - What Next?

I'm in a similar position to you. I was gonna start investing in individual Pedals, I already have a DD-3. But due to space and cost and a young family I'm gonna go with the Digitech RP250, I don't see myself ever playing on stage (but never say never) so a RP250 and 15w or 30w will do me...

    Bad - solo

Bad is just one of the best, and easiest songs to play, but the sound of that solo is just a nightmare for me. Sure I can play it but I just can’t get that sound. I’m using a DD-3 with delay set at one or two repeats, level is about 75% and 420ms and a little distortion from the amp. Does...

    DigiTech Whammy

I had a scope on eBay last night.... wow, there's a WH-1 on there for something like £250 ($400). A little pricey?? I'll keep an eye out for one, if they are all around this price I'll just have to go for one of the newer versions at a more sensible £100(ish).

    DigiTech Whammy

I’m looking to get the intro sound of ‘Real Thing. My research leads me to the DigiTech Whammy, which is about £120stg, it’s allot of money for a box for just one song. Or so I thought..... Apparently, Dallas has said that the DigiTech Whammy is now Edge’s favorite pedal and he is now even...
