On the task manager, look for svchost.exe. If that's taking up alot (like more than 30% sometimes) aswell as explorer.exe, then it's the blaster virus, and it's hard to get rid of!

1. Check speakers with something else, it could be the speakers fault. 2. Check computer with other speakers, to make sure your sound card works Which ever one doesn't work, if you can't fix it, try getting a new one. Both can be bought fairly cheaply...

I had a problem like that a while ago, and all it needed was resetting the internet connection on Tools>>Internet Options>>Conections>>Setup
