    New Year's Day?

F*ck That! NYD rules and should be played at every show! Few songs rock as hard as this one and it's a huge crowd pleaser that always delivers live. I saw 7 shows on this tour and only got to hear it once, it sucks that NYD gets neglected yet Elevation is played at EVERY show.

Do we really need to predict the Omaha setlist tonight...?

Just add New Years Day and Bad and The Fly to every show and the current setlist is improved 10 fold. All I Want Is You would also be nice every now and then.

    “White out” in Boston 12/5?

I was at the show and I think the "white out" would have gone better if it was done during a song that had brighter lighting. The lighting during one is too dark for the look to have an effect. It was a good effort though, thanks all who were there for another 2 great nights in Boston.

    Institute?

Institute are the worst opener for U2 I've ever seen, they come off as amatuers being fronted by a has-been and they're cover of David Bowie's "Heroes" is one of the worst things I've ever heard. Sorry to be so harsh, but seriously, isn't this band just on the tour as a favor to them at our...

Bono's lacking the energy on this tour compared to DM

One thing I'd like to add to this discussion is that I think there is a bit of a difference in DM's audience then U2's audience in concert, and alot of that has to do with ticket prices. U2's top face value price is $165 and DM's top face value price is $85, even the best seats at the DM show...

Bono's lacking the energy on this tour compared to DM

I saw Depeche Mode a week and a half ago and I must say that I was absolutely blown away. Their performance was flawless, the setlist was fantastic, and the crowd was hanging on every note. I have also seen 5 Vertigo shows so far this year and it's a really tough call, I'm a bigger U2 fan so...

    Liam quote on Bono

I know people in the UK give a shit about Noel and Liam and Oasis but the truth is that they are non-entities everywhere else in the world. If Oasis were really anything like The Beatles then their music would've stood the test of time, instead they already sound like 90's has beens and that's...

    OOTS replacing Miracle Drug

Miracle Drug is out...guess I'll have to find another song to take a piss during.

Institute to open remainder of December dates...

Public Enemy was fantastic, opened the first U2 show I ever saw and is one of the most important hip hop groups of all time. U2 should also get credit for taking Public Enemy as there opening act in the state of Arizona in a time where Public Enemy was involved in a big controversy there.

Institute to open remainder of December dates...

That sucks! I wanted The Arcade Fire in Boston. They have been one of my favorite bands since last year and it's lame that they only get 3 shows and some grunge has-been like Gavin Rossdale gets weeks worth of shows. Bush sucked when I saw them as a kid and I'm sure as hell not looking...

    Drugs at U2 shows?

I very much appreciate your reply and I think that my reactions throughout this discussion have been admitidly a bit over-zealous and at times a little reactionary. I think I was just surprised at how many people were so quick to judge based on the nature of the post and that most of the...

    Drugs at U2 shows?

Have you heard it? I'm not sure you have because you just made a seriously absurd statement. Someone back me up on this one for god's sake. And seriously don't waste your time feeling sorry for me, my life is awesome!

    Drugs at U2 shows?

To Baudrillard: For one I never "endorsed" drug use, I simply pointed out that it's effect on musice, for better or worse, is something that I think cannot be denied. I used a Bill Hicks quote to make this point simply because I think that it's interesting and worthy of consideration. I am not...

    Drugs at U2 shows?

Maybe if you were at the show right now and you were high you would forget that they were going to play Bullet The Blue Sky right after SBS and you'd actually be surprised.

    Drugs at U2 shows?

And do you think that 99% of U2's influences were sober when they made their albums as well? I seem to remember Bono saying, in the Making of The Joshua Tree documentary, that when recording exit the spirit of John Bonham was in the room with Larry and that the same can be said about Jimmy Page...

    Drugs at U2 shows?

Now that's the kind of answer I've been looking for. While it's true that you might have me beat on age, and I conceed that with comes experience, in my short life I've been more closely associated with rock music then most people, I basically grew up in the back of a tour bus and I've just...

    Drugs at U2 shows?

Smoke and sweat is the elbow grease of rock 'n roll, if you don't want to smell smoke then don't go to a rock show, go see Celine Dion. Cigarette smoke is to spitting and kicking you would have seen if you had been to U2's first show in London during the punk era, now that's rock and roll...

    Drugs at U2 shows?

Another thing in reference to the guy who said that all drugs and alchohol are stupid I quote Bill Hicks in saying "For all of you who don't think that drugs have had positive affects on the world we live in then take all your albums and burn them." That includes your U2 records.

    Drugs at U2 shows?

For one, I'm quite pleased with how this discussion is going, there are definately different opinions of this subject. Alot of people have been saying essentially "why pay so much money on a ticket to a show and then take a drug that will cause you to not remember it the next morning?" I...

    Drugs at U2 shows?

Rock concerts are generally not a very a wholesome affair,it can argued that if there is ever an appropriate time to cut loose and party it's at a rock show. I don't regret my experience of seeing U2 in an altered state, if anything it added a new perspective to seeing them sober, which is...

    Drugs at U2 shows?

When I was 13 a friend of my sister's took my to see the Grateful Dead and it was one of the worst concerts I've ever seen, not like when my sister took me to see Zoo TV when I was 11, that ruled!

    Drugs at U2 shows?

This might be sort of a taboo question for the forum but I'm surprised it's never been discussed before. Has anyone on this board ever attended a U2 show under the influence of drugs, and if so how would you compare it to seeing them sober? On my 20th birthday I saw my first of 6 Elevation...
