    Shuttlecock XXV: Cool Hats Club

Love that outro  My Popmart show was 27 years ago yesterday and they seemed old to me as a teenager, but damn in this video Bono looks so young to me now. In some alternative timeline, this was the hit single they were yearning for on Pop.

    Pearl Jam Discussion Part 3

I've listened to very little live Pearl Jam, so I have nothing to compare it to, but my first impression was that Eddie sounded great for being near 60. Maybe its just Howard Stern's studio. They always seem to have a really great sound mix on the clips.

Holy crap, the ending of that Lakers/Nugs was even better than Knicks/Sixers. What a night of playoff games!

    Shuttlecock XXV: Cool Hats Club

They are the same. I bought all of the Pop singles on CD as they were released in ‘97 and they all have the same mixes and track lists as these “new” releases. Speaking of “Your Blue Room”, on the chorus U2.com lyrics says that Bono sings “Saw Me Coming” on both refrains, where to me it sounds...

If the Jazz support is any indication, I’m hopeful Utah will support a NHL team really well. The Utah market is underserved in my opinion with Professional sports and the Metro population has grown about 3x since the Jazz arrived in 1979. Also in less than a day:

Ha! If we’re going to steal another New Orleans name, Saints would be a better fit. Some of the names fans are throwing around are: Utah Blizzard Utah Yeti Utah Black Diamonds Utah Outlaws Utah Cutthroat (would never happen) Utah Spikes (also could be an MLB name) Utah Trappers Utah Arches...

Yeah they will need a new arena ASAP. Ryan Smith unveiled plans a few months ago for a new downtown arena near the Delta Center for the Jazz and a future NHL team, so plans are in the works. They could also possibly play temporarily at the 12,600 seat Maverik Center in the west suburbs which was...

Spacefarer's Guide to Getting off this Planet

Had a couple co-workers travel to Texas to be in the path. Not sure I’d ever go to that much effort, but I would like to experience totality once in my life. I do live in the path of totality for the next major US total eclipse in 2045. Hoping I’m still around by then.

Hey at least we’re 5th in…something. It’s been a terrible season and this team is not much fun to watch. A projected weak upcoming draft isn’t helping.

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

1997 was also a weird time for popular music, at least in the US. Hip hop/rap was huge, ska was popular, boy bands were becoming big and most 80’s bands had all fallen out of favor. REM and Depeche Mode saw similar declines in popularity. There may have not been any song that U2 could have...

Random Music Talk CXXXI: Interference Finally Gets Its Revenge on Cobbler

Liking Elbow's new album, much more guitar driven and up tempo than recent records. Balu, Good Blood Mexico City, and From The River are standouts.

Random Music Talk CXXXI: Interference Finally Gets Its Revenge on Cobbler

I listened to Laughing Stock today and read up on both of them a bit more. Sounds like they are both considered very influential albums for the beginnings of post-rock (and you can totally hear it). I liked After The Flood, Taphead and New Grass, although I will say at this point I like Spirit...
