Live Moments In U2's History That Still Bring A Lump In Your Throat

the biggest one for me is Running to Stand Still ZooTV arrangement. So good! Mothers of the Disappeared is a good one too.

    SOE ranking in U2’s catalogue

I'll give you that UF can be considered fragmentary - in that many of the songs are more soundscapes than traditional songs - and some songs are kind of experiments tossed out there without finalizing them (just like Eno likes it).

    SOE ranking in U2’s catalogue

I don't see how you call Zooropa and UF not cohesive! they seem like some of the most cohesive albums in U2's collection to me. Well - I suppose all their 80's albums seem very cohesive except for Rattle and Hum. On UF, it's really only Pride that is an outlier. But otherwise I don't...

    SOE ranking in U2’s catalogue

Achtung Baby Joshua Tree Zooropa Pop Rattle and Hum Unforgettable Fire War NLOTH Boy ATYCLB HTDAAB SOI October SOE I see that I'm one of the few to put SOE at the bottom. There's sadly not a lot there that I enjoy, which is weird to experience (ha!). Rattle and Hum is always hard to rank - I...

    Vulture ranks 218 U2 songs

Yeah - Boomerang may not be full formed - but that's the case for much of UF. It's got a cool vibe and is way better than some total duds in their catalogue. Not that I'm incensed about this list or anything - but half the point of making lists is to argue about them. There's definitely quite...

    Vulture ranks 218 U2 songs

Always worth discussing these lists. (SOE not included) http://www.vulture.com/2017/12/all-218-u2-songs-ranked-from-worst-to-best.html Of course any person's ranking of this many songs is going to be all over the place, but this does seem to have a lot of questionable choices. The top 10 is...

Re: Eno and Lanois writing credits

I was wondering about this recently. Does anyone know any more about Larry and Lanois/Eno's falling out after NLOTH? I know Larry hated Passengers - so I can see that his crankiness with composing more abstract/moody songs is at odds with Eno's preferences. Is there any more documentation of...

Love Is All We Have Left - Appreciation Thread

Yeah - it's a big surprise for them to note open with the biggest punch that they can. Zooropa is the closest to an exception - it has a long atmospheric build up. They've often mentioned thinking about starting with more of a slow build before- but they always back off: Achtung Baby they...

    U2 albums ranked - deadspin

Yeah, I still think NLOTH is the best post-90's U2 album. And I'm right! I never put on ATYCLB or HTDAAB anymore, but I still play NLOTH. I enjoyed all those albums, but NLOTH wins easily, and I think its because it began as an album where they let themselves mess around and just play...

    Red Flag Day Appreciation Thread

I guess I'm an outlier because I feel like it's a stretch to say this has a Boy/War vibe. It still sounds like modern U2 sound to me.

Get Out of Your Own Way

So far this honestly feels like the first U2 album I'm having a hard time wanting to even own. These songs are kind of OK, but they really don't have anywhere near the magic of the first few decades of U2. If I wasn't already a U2 fan, why would I even want to own this? It feels like an...

No Line On The Horizon: the most underrated album?

Yeah, this is by far the album I enjoy the most of their post 90's work. ATYCLB and HTDAAB have not aged so well. This is really the only late era album I put on now. (Sometimes an abbreviated version of SOI - but I don't like that album as much). Though I'd disagree with nbelcik - I'll go...

    Pearl Jam Discussion Part 3

Yeah, i support the cause too, but it sucks for the fans, and I don't think the politicians will care. I was feeling safe because they hadn't said anything and it was two days away, but then they go and cancel at the last second.

Every Breaking Wave Will Be U2's Biggest Global Smash Hit Since Magnificent

purchase single version Is there anywhere that you can buy the EBW single version? I'm not on ITunes, and I don't see it on Amazon the one like the acoustic version on the bonus disc, but with more studio polish

    *Spoilers* - Rehearsals in Vancouver

It's hard to believe that they won't play Reach. Crystal Ballroom would be great, but not surprising to not hear it - since it's a deluxe version-only track

    Bono and Tony Fenton interview

Thanks that was cool to hear. Popmart is always viewed as such a boondoggle, and the band are generally very apologetic for everything Pop related, so it's cool to hear Bono talking about how proud he was of that tour.

    Bono and Tony Fenton interview

Okay, can someone who listened to this tell me what Bono said about Popmart being his favorite tour? Or tell me where in the interview he says this (mentioned on atu2.com). It's an intriguing thing to hear.

Alternate Tracklist SOI - Incl Bonus Tracks

Here's mine. It was hard not to put Miracle first - it seems so clearly to be an opening track, but I wanted Reach first. I see some put it after California or Invisible, but I decided putting it after Crystal Ballroom worked best. This is Where You Can Reach Me Now Invisible Crystal Ballroom...

Here comes the press rollout...Time magazine cover

Funny thing is, as I recall it was surprisingly Larry's idea to go somewhere like Morocco and just jam and make music and not worry about where they were going with it. I didn't find a source for that yet, but I'm pretty sure it's true. I did find this quote from Larry earlier in the NLOTH...

Top 15 U2 songs of all time

I'll give it a go: Streets ISHFWILF BTBS RTSS Mothers Heartland One UTEOTW Horses The Fly Acrobat Love is Blindness Zooropa Lemon Stay I decided that although it's more satisfying to go through and pick the best song or two from each album - all my absolute favorites span JT-Zooropa. U2 were...

Top 15 U2 songs of all time

Wow, Cedars as a top 15 song! That's rare. I definitely like that song - though it's not near my top 15, but i know that many dislike it, so I'm surprised to see someone love it so much. It's definitely interesting to see what songs are some people's favorites. Raised by Wolves definitely...

Most Overrated U2 Song vs Most Underrated U2 Song

Additionally, I support the recent post that Magnificent is overrated (by interference members). It's not bad, but always seemed pretty generic to me. It did actually grow on me a little recently, but still it's not a great song. Yahweh on the other song - not a fan at all. Sorry RaisedByWolves

Most Overrated U2 Song vs Most Underrated U2 Song

I'd say One can never be overrated. It's a masterpiece! I know it's their least musically adventurous song on AB, but that's because it's an excellent song at its core, with a great delivery. Beautiful Day is easily their most overrated, IMO. It's their biggest hit of the past 20 years, and...
