New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

Given the involvement in the Sphere shows I'm still holding out hope for one last project with Eno and Lanois involved. I could see it appealing to everyone involved if the timing was right.

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

If they have the songs, they should just go into the studio with Lee & Lilywhite, record them and release them. Maybe they need an imposed deadline of some sort to focus things these days, like a world tour being booked…

    Will Larry Return to U2?

I saw them live just before COVID when I happened to be in a city they were playing and someone had a couple of spare tickets. I'd always liked New Jersey and their stuff up until about Keep the Faith time. Anyway, the show was ok, but he was struggling big time. There was just no power his...

    Will Larry Return to U2?

The Beacon shows were very different but I thought he sounded the best he has done in years. At the Sphere I think it showed he's now worked out how to sing those songs in the best way possible with his maturing and changing voice. It feels like he's taken time to adjust to it but knows what he...

    Will Larry Return to U2?

That's the thing, to play those shows with Bram must have been a massive thing for them to even consider. Presuming they all got on personally (which I think is a fair assumption as for the most part they seemed to be having a blast and were very relaxed) and clearly professionally it worked as...

    Will Larry Return to U2?

Yeah, sorry, I know we've done this subject to death in various threads so didn't really want to go over old ground. I guess we should know the answer soon enough - studio Larry and live Bram might be the best fit for everyone though.

    Will Larry Return to U2?

I had the misfortune of getting an update from some random u2 group on FB where they were discussing "news" that Bram wasn't returning to his band which was because he was going to be joining U2. Of course there was no substance to this and given Larry recorded Atomic City, was at the last show...

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

I love the relaxed groove of Playboy Mansion, I don't think that's aged at all. There's some great rhythm work across the album, they really shine and the loops/beats work so well. I think that's why I'd love to hear the early versions of songs and those without Larry onboard (physical). Bullet...

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

Pop, like Zooropa, is one of my favourite U2 albums that I still listen-to a lot. More than ATYCLB for example. I know its not objectively their best, but that doesn't matter. @Headache in a Suitcase is right - Pop has a real variety of singles on there that they could have chosen to lead with...

3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

The guys from Scott's Bass Lessons got invited to one of the last shows and met with Adam and his techs as well as Dallas. I'd still love to hear Stuart Morgan's point of view about playing in that Zoo TV gig all those years ago. Their podcast is up now and also on Youtube here.

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

I miss those days of hearing singles being announced and wondering what those new songs on the b-sides would be like. Even the occasional remix, but as time went on they took the place of original songs.

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

It's nice they're finally getting all the singles and b-sides on streaming, but boy has it taken a long time. The limited-edition t-shirt is pretty nice. Merch is where bands make their money these days given how little physical music is sold so its the norm.

I listened to No Line on the Horizon right through tonight for the first time in about 10 years…

I still like NLOTH despite its flaws and the missed opportunity we all think it was for them to do something more experimental, or at least see an idea through to its conclusion, whether it wholly succeeds or not. I know what people are saying about the Unknown Caller lyrics, but at the same...

3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

Thanks, managed to pick up the logos t-shirt Mrs Mike was after and also got to use one of my 2 discount codes I've had in the account.

I did wonder if there would be a Sirius offering for those of us not in the US, but its never materialised.

3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

The first IEM source bootleg has been released which is a Bram feed. I guess now the run is over we'll get others and someone will do a matrix release before we know it.

3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

I love that they finished with 40 and watching the video made me feel a little bit emotional. No idea why. Might be the age, the whisky or a bit of both, but was just grateful to have seen them again in such a unique venue. Here's to the next album and tour.

3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

Acrobat and Love is Blindness were two standouts. Obviously we got Acrobat on the last tour, but this version seemed even better - two songs where my wife just stood in absolute slack-jawed wonderment at Edge's playing.

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

I love 40 Ft Man way more than I should do. They've got the songs for the album and just want to (re)record them, so as long as they don't overthink it, we should all be good.

That's promising about Larry, maybe we are going to get a new album and tour announced within the year.

Setlist Discussion Part II - Spoilers Allowed, Enter At Your Own Risk

What's a good Phish album to give 'em a go for a complete newbie?

Can someone help me identify this U2 song? Has anyone else heard of this song?

None of those lyrics ring a bell with anything I've heard from them and I've spent way too much time listening to any demos that have leaked over the years.
