    St. Louis Setlist Party

This is a brilliant encore and would be perfect. Therefore we know it will never happen. Sad.

Star Wars Episode VIII: A New Thread

The Last Jedi was fucking awful. It made the prequels look like well thought out and exciting movies. The movie featured crazy uncle Luke milking a space seal, Princess Leia doing a Mary Poppins space walk, a “space battle”that was entirely about there not being a galactic gas station nearby...

Songs of Experience 36 - Now with 20% fewer acronyms

I just do not care if the reviewers give it a 0/100 or 10/10 or whatever. I won’t know for sure what I think of this album for probably a year or so. Do I come back to it? Does it sound great in concert? Right now I think it’s a solid album - honestly, probably close to as good as any other...

    SOE promo tour/promo activities

I think the performances last night on SNL were fine, I just find AS to be a very, very weak song. Blackout would have been a much better choice for a rocker on TV. I think if you drop AS and YTBT from the album and add Book of Your Heart you’ve got a really strong album all the way through. I...

SOE is an album by parents for parents. And I like it. Flame away. :reject:

    eXPERIENCE or iNNOCENCE presale group

Shockingly for the first 15 minutes MSG was saying no tickets available when I tried. Ultimately got GA though.

SOE 32: let there be no leak puns..

They clearly think they are making an artistic statement. Many will believe they are only doing it for the money (from the tour). I think they made this album for both reasons. I really liked SOI and generally like what I've heard from SOE. But I'm not afraid to admit this is a little like...

SOE 31: Yes, we have no bananas

This album seems entirely mastered for headphones so far. It seems very flat and dull through speakers, but there are a lot of subtle details and the sound somehow richer on headphones. Maybe I’m crazy - anyone else hear it this way? Overall, very positive first impressions of the new tracks...

You're the Best Thing About Me - Song Discussion Thread #2

It's better than the train wreck I heard at the San Diego show.

You're the Best Thing About Me - Song Discussion Thread #2

Based on the live version Little Things is too good of a song to succeed on the radio. Best Thing is just bad enough to have a chance to succeed on radio. But wholeheartedly agree - no U2 single is going to storm the charts anymore. "Meh" is the best they can hope for.

    St Louis cancelled

The venue is on the border of one of the most violent areas in the US on a normal day. This was absolutely the right decision by Live Nation/U2. Sad outcome for sure.

This show might be a riot. Literally.

You're the Best Thing About Me - Song Discussion

I'll give this some time, but my first impression is not good. Seems way too plodding and disjointed. It's as though they couldn't decide whether to risk a dance/pop song or make it a rock song and ended up with a mess that is neither. I much prefer The Blackout.

    SOE 25 - The Freakout

So I've tried to digest The Blackout over the last 24 hours and overall I think it's a solid tune. It's no all-time classic but it's not a throw-away pile either (Hello Boots, Unknown Caller...) It has enough muscle to not be adult contemporary schlock and enough noise to not be a straight...

Finally. How soon can I ask that the encore for the final JT shows include Little Things, Best Thing and The Blackout?

How about a bit of spontaneity ?? Is this the most laziest tour ever

I've seen 3 shows in 3 cities on this tour (2 in US, 1 in EU) and all three were top notch in terms of visuals and sound quality. They were very competent shows. But that's the best I can say about them, they were competent. The last song changed for all three but there was hardly an ounce of...

    U2.com – Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Editions

The remixes are...there. Modestly interesting takes that remind me how great the originals are. None improve on the originals, not that it would be a fair expectation that they would. The Streets mix is one that is just a waste. The sound on the MSG show is improved over the Wolfgang version...

    Agree completely. I haven't owned a record player since I was 5.

Did the new version of Red Hill Mining Town leak out yet?

The new mix is not terrible mostly because the song itself is so great. It's always fun to hear different takes on a song, but this version doesn't really add much worthwhile; mostly some unneeded horns and other small touches. Overall, I think it's 'fine' but doubt I'll revisit very often.

    Singles From Pop

I've constructed a playlist version of Pop with all of the single mixes and also replaced Miami with Big Girls are Best and using the Jools Holland version of Velvet Dress. Really like Pop as it was released but Miami never really did much for me. Overall this makes for one of my favorite U2...

No Line On The Horizon: the most underrated album?

For me it's an 'ok' album. Very uneven with some really strong songs but too many songs that I gave some benefit of the doubt to at the time of the tour but have not stood the test of time for me. The middle 3 are the sound of U2 being desperate for a radio hit and are very weak. I consider...

Did the new version of Red Hill Mining Town leak out yet?

I predict the remixes will sound like late-2016 U2, be overproduced and inferior to the original album versions.

Did the new version of Red Hill Mining Town leak out yet?

It's just a sample, but my first impression is this is a pretty terrible remix / update. Vocal sounds awful.

    U2.com – Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary Editions

Totally agree and I won't be buying it. Maybe others will see value in it...more power to them. Hope they enjoy it. I still think it's a lame money grab by a band I once thought was above that. I was wrong about the band.
