    Shuttlecock XXV: Cool Hats Club

It's so different to the album version, wow. I hadn't listened to it in a long time. The solo is awesome. I'd forgotten about that. Other plusses include a perhaps more raw Bono vocal, it has a bit more of that sexiness to it that's found on other tracks of the era. The atmosphere at the start...

Random Music Talk CXXXI: Interference Finally Gets Its Revenge on Cobbler

I love the self-referential nature of the track titles. A third track in the US state nicknames series. Perhaps Holy Smoke (2005) will be a prelude to 2007, The Year Punk Rock Broke (My Heart), my favourite track from the debut. Embarrassing body stuff. Even the album title, evokes "all's well...

Excuse me while I weep. The long-awaited new album from Los Campesinos!, All Hell, is out 19th July, the day after my birthday. Here’s the artwork. Here’s the tracklist. Presenting, Romance is Boring 2: Slime Season The Coin-Op Guillotine Holy Smoke (2005) A Psychic Wound i. Spit; or...

    Shuttlecock XXV: Cool Hats Club

Listened to the Last Night on Earth single. That single mix, like all of the Pop single mixes, is worse than the album version. So much more polished, and aside from that wicked guitar tone Edge plays, totally lacks the grit of the album. The bridge is pretty crap in the album, but it's much...

The new Kamasi Washington album is fantastic, if you like jazz fusion.

    Will Larry Return to U2?

I think as a collective, Sphere was the best they've ever sounded live in the 17 years I've been seeing them live. I don't know how much of that is the tech stuff, but they were excellent. Bono definitely doesn't sound as good as in his previous eras, but I would also argue he doesn't - and the...

How the absolute FUCK is no one here talking about the fact that St Vincent essentially has a cover of Numb on her new album!!!

Thanks for doing this, djerdap, it was lovely to read and you inspired me to do the same. Ax is indeed a hoot, and though I like Miracle Drug, you're right, MDMA is better.

Random Music Talk CXXXI: Interference Finally Gets Its Revenge on Cobbler

Can you be a bit more expansive please. What did you think, what did you feel, when you heard 45:33 part three. What did other people at the time think? And then same questions, but when you heard Someone Great for the first time? I cannot hear 45:33 part III and not hear Someone Great. THat's...

    Pearl Jam Discussion Part 3

He looks and sounds old in that clip. I listened to the album and really enjoyed a few tracks - Waiting for Stevie is indeed sensational (reminded of Eddie by RHCP - another old band making a really fucking great song in reference to a huge figure), I really liked Wreckage too. Won't Tell is...

But if they were truly the better team, then they would have been further ahead at the time of the incident.

Just looked into it. If the Packers had been the better team, they would have won without relying on an umpire call.

Anyone listen to Fetch the Bolt Cutters still? I've played it a couple times in recent weeks and it holds up incredibly well. I think the p4k 10 review said something like no music has ever sounded like this, and that's true. It feels invigorating, singular, fierce. And the songs are also...

Umpire complaints in sport are so funny. Whilst there are so many examples of incorrect decisions "costing" a team a win, it's never the reason they lose. It's like, if you were good enough over the length of the game, you'd have won.

You got me excited, it sounds exactly the same lol. 10/10 song tho. That was pretty great. Don't love the Sad Bastard one, the fuzzy HMTMKMKM solo freakout aside. Also forgot about North and South of the River. Great song. The original also rules. Shame every time they've touched it since...

Taylor Swift IS the new Arya Stark!

Not interested in listening to Taylor Swift, although I would have gone to one of her concerts here if I'd been able to get a ticket. She sold out three nights at the MCG, which is one of the biggest stadiums in the world, in, like, seconds. 96,000 at all three shows and thousands upon thousands...

That must have been a cool experience. An absolute classic. It's never been amongst my favourite hip-hop records and I rarely listen to it, it's so insular, but it might be the tightest rap record ever made. Pretty mindblowing from a young artist with no career prior.
