3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

Oh sure, and that’s good for a weekend or 2, maybe more based on pricing. They just never struck me as a production-centric act. Headscratcher.

3 Irishmen and a Dutchman Walk Into A Sphere - General Discussion Thread Part III

I guess, but to go from 3 iconic acts to… Zac Brown Band? It’s a step down. And perhaps indicative of the challenges of pulling in another superstar-level act into what's essentially an arena residency when so many global stadium acts are currently on tour, in stadiums. Eventually Dolan was...

    Pearl Jam Discussion Part 3

Screen is kinda not their thing and they could’ve sold tix behind the stage like usual.

    Will Larry Return to U2?

All indications thus far have been stadium tour, which means maximum 2 consecutive nights and even then only for the largest markets. So likely plenty of opportunity for spaces in the schedule given crew travel and stage setup days.

    Will Larry Return to U2?

Bon Jovi’s voice has been shot for well over a decade. Check out the 12-12-12 MSG benefit, he’s making vowel sounds without actually singing the full words.

    Will Larry Return to U2?

Bono sounded fantastic when I saw him at the Beacon solo shows and the Sphere. I believe the solo show tour forced him into vocal rest between dates and then the Nevada desert did the same - and it made a notable difference. He went for more high notes on those tours than he had in recent...

Having the livestream apparatus in place certainly helps.

Last night looked incredible, they leveled up.

Not going to trash it. It had to work for their extended playing style and I thought some of the abstract stuff was good, 1-2 things quite smart and impressive on a phone screen so surely exponentially better in the room. The sound was likely phenomenal too. At the end of the day, an entirely...

I think it’s great how they were influenced by U2’s final Sphere treatment of Ultra Violet…

    Will Larry Return to U2?

I’d be ok with this if it means more recording and touring.

    Will Larry Return to U2?

He wants to be able to drum. I think he wants to be able to drum in his band. I don’t know if he wants to tour into his 70s. I believe Bram and the Sphere might’ve opened up some ideas for their future. I hope the original lineup is around making music together for a good while longer.

I listened to No Line on the Horizon right through tonight for the first time in about 10 years…

Wild Honey is the type of effortless pop song they mostly struggle to create now b/c they overthink everything. The lyrics sound like a first or second pass and are better for it b/c Bono would overload them with syllables and pointless wordplay now. The Showman is probably the closest they’ve...

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

That they haven’t played Please on recent tours is a real loss. I didn’t expect it for Sphere but it would’ve fit in perfectly on JT30 or E+I

Your friend should separate his or her concert tees and wash them cold under cover of darkness. And never speak of this again.

New Album Discussion 1 - Songs of..... - Unreasonable guitar album

Wash your concert tees inside out, cold, Woolite (or Woolite Dark), hang to dry. Bootleg tees should go in a garment bag to protect the likely crap print job. One short medium heat dryer cycle every so often if the neck starts to get misshapen. Sincerely, Tonedeaf Micelli

Remastered remixes of a song they couldn’t be bothered to play in the most fitting setting ever. Holy Joe shit.

This will be my last response to your, uhh, “commentary.” U2’s current popularity in any market doesn’t matter a whit in relation to my comments about their focus/obsession with the American market. Not the individual fans, but the record buying public as a consumer bloc. Which are supported by...

Didn’t say that either. Re-read my post. One mention of SOI in a list of apparent missteps that they (over)reacted to based on American fan reception b/c the US has been their consistently communicated primary focus market [see also: SOE liner notes]. Or, y’know, ignore the very clear points and...
