Why Haven't I Received The New Free U2 Album?

I heard U2 just recently did a free surprise download of their new album to the millions of iTunes users. Except for me, apparently. Yes, here I am, an iTunes user and very much a long time U2 admirer, and I don't receive what will probably be the only free new U2 album that's ever given out...

Roughly 3 months later, where does NLOTH fall in your album rankings

Don't quite get why so many seem to be beating on SUC so much! I think it's quite a rousing number and I like it a lot, but then I like every song on this fine album. SUC probably is weaker lyrically but you can't expect Bono to be profound on every song, can you? Maybe it's just something they...

Four Reasons Why 'Atomic Bomb' should not be derided so foolishly....

To me, Bomb is a dip in quality between ATYCLB & NLOTH, both which overall have not only consistently better songs, but simply flow better as albums. Don't get me wrong however. Bomb was not a complete disaster. There's still a handful of songs on it that I really like, but, until the release of...

The SAD at People trashing HTDAAB Thread

For some odd reason, I've just gotten an overwhelming urge to go listen to my "irredeemable" atyclb album!

    Something magical about U2

You don't sound crazy at all. That's the mark of great music. It'll take you someplace. Glad to hear you got turned on to Mysterious Ways & AB.

The SAD at People trashing HTDAAB Thread

I agree totally with the comments stating the Grammy awards being based on internal politics. That is so true. Besides, musical tastes are just too personal & subjective, in my opinion, for an elite, insider group to essentially try to tell everyone what they should be listening to, by bestowing...

James Morrison: "Coldplay second version of U2"....

Coldplay is one of the best groups on the music scene now. I have detected a U2 influence, but so what? They are obviously not copycats, have their own unique sound, and most importantly, put out great stuff.

The SAD at People trashing HTDAAB Thread

I agree that Bomb was the first U2 album to dip down to the boring level. Still, there are those handful of songs on it that are very good, such as COBL, ABOY, OOTS (Vertigo is pretty decent, as well). I don't understand the claim that ATYCLB is full of filler (particularly the 2nd half)...

Will Vertigo or Elevation be remembered?

Funny, I always thought that Vertigo was just a little too much in the vein of Elevation (although certainly not soundalikes). I'd give Elevation the edge, but not by much. Vertigo is one of the better cuts off the disappointing Bomb album but neither of these two songs deserve to be considered...

I like this song too. It fit the movie which was also great.

Boy tops 100 greatest debut album list

Lists like these are always judgment calls. How can you really compare very good albums having such a diversity of individual styles? I personally believe that Boy is a great album and probably deserves to top the list as much as any of the others but who's to really say? I do take issue with...

Who else here thinks October is better than Boy?

By the way, my idea of the weakest cut from Boy is Shadows & Tall Trees. Only there does the album drag a little. I still like it though.

Who else here thinks October is better than Boy?

I think Boy is one of their three high points (Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby being the other two). Their songwriting was not yet as sophisticated as it would be later on, but even though the songs are somewhat simpler, this is not a bad thing. These songs are still very fine ones and quite...

    I "heart" ATYCLB

I'll second ATYCLB as a great one and I don't understand those who say the 2nd half is inferior. Those are some powerful songs. Even Grace at the end provides a quiet, reflective conclusion to this wonderful album.

    Spiderman News

Sounds cool. Judging from the past, these side projects have produced some good stuff - seems to keep their creative juices flowing.
