Not sure if the very best has come along yet, but those that certainly do stick out as being good markers for the times to me are: Green Day - American Idiot Coldplay - A rush of blood to the head Muse - Black Holes and Revelations or Absolution (I'm undecided which one here) The White Stripes...

Had no idea X&Y was so maligned, I don't mind it, actually think parts of it are rather good even. Eno will likely do good with them, but I just hope he doesn't take their desire to be U2 a bit too far and turn them into a clone.

Here in Sydney hung out in the rocks, saw heaps of free bands put on by the Harbour Foreshore authority including Diesel, Alex Lloyd and The Whitlams - great stuff all round, before taking in the fireworks over Darling Harbour. All in all a great day, great music, great to be Aussie.
