Do U2 Struggle With God's Will?

    Everyone struggles with God's Will.

    Denomination

Roman Catholic - in fact I'm currently preparing a 2nd grade class to receive First Communion this year. My father was baptized in a German Luthern Church in NYC as a child, grew up in the Episcopal Church and converted to Catholicism before he met my mother. My mother was raised by an Irish...

    I think I had a spiritual attack

God is just calling you closer. It's scary when we are being called somewhere we not sure of. I find in my own life that when I start to move closer to God, I often have fears of the Devil (or demons), but evil can't touch you unless you consent to cooperate with it. Sort of like a scare tactic...

    Books That Influence Your Spirituality

Mere Christianity - CS Lewis Imitation of Christ - St Thomas a Kempis Seven Storey Mountain - Thomas Merton (I think his autobiography is a necessary intro to his other works) Story of a Soul - St Therese of Lisieux What's So Amazing about Grace - Philip Yancey The Lamb's Last Supper -...

Can someone explain the humor in this comic?

People who run their own businesses have to pay income tax every quarter on their income. It isn't deducted each pay period, like those who are employed by others. So every 3 months, you have to have set aside enough money from your business to pay your income tax. What the cartoon is implying...

    Musicians and reality

Musicians are in touch with reality. It just isn't the same reality the average person exists in. And thank goodness, or we've have never progressed beyond "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". We need both people with their feet on the ground AND people with their head in the clouds. Oscar Wilde said...

What was your first impression of Elvis P and America?

I've always been intrigued by the way it continues on and on, like it's never going to come to a resolution. Bono just improvises till the music stops. For the most part, it's U2's experimental side that makes me a fan. On the Greatest Hits, it's the B-sides I find myself listening to over and...

Which do you think is most important to Bono (if he had to choose)

I remember Bono once saying that it was having children that made him more radical in wanting to make the world a better place for them to grow up in. I think that puts it into perspective.

    I so don't get this....

It's a big step to "buy" rather than "rent" a jet. You really have to be using it more than once every two or three years for it to be cost effective, becuase you have to store and maintain the jet between uses. I think all of Bono's political and charity work might have been a big factor...

    Comment on Edge's People spread

I think the main reason there is publicity like this is because there is an audience for it....like the people who come to Interference to find out about what's going on with U2. What would the reaction have been if there had been no reports and no photos of the event? And as far as privacy...

    Poll: Edge's Beanie

I've always been partial to the doo-rag, as well. Anyway, in keeping with Morleigh's faith tradition, some head covering would have been appropriate anyway, so why not the beanie?

    Bono featured on Wyclef's storytellers...thing

Cool - Bono in the "Boogie Basement". I've always liked Wyclef and it was good to see Bono team up with him. Even tho' I'm in AL now, I too did my studies in "The New Jerusalem" - that's short for NJ). Wyclef has lots of influences which show on his "The Ecleftic (2 Sides II A Book)." Too...

    What is Bono chanting?

My friend has a simple way for explaining anything incomprehensible that comes out of Bono's mouth...she says "That's just Bono speaking in tongues again."

That's Mr Hewson to you Mister!!

In Bill Flanagan's book, the credit card issue was addressed. Bono said he uses his initials and his last name (P D Hewson or P Hewson) because he doesn't want the shop assistants calling him "Paul" when he buys things. He said it implies an intamicy that doesn't really exist.

Gavin and Guggi - pics from last night

Gavin's been carrying a purse since at least 1978. He doesn't wear skirts nearly so much anymore, though...... [This message has been edited by Bulow (edited 04-13-2002).]
