    Flutie to sign with Pats?

I grew up in RI and NH, and most people I know who are in the 40 or so age range are of the opinion that "Flutie's a scab!" There were issues in San Diego if I remember correctly, too...I'm not sure how great a mentor he'd be.

    Flutie to sign with Pats?

Boston.com is saying it looks like the Pats might sign Flutie as a backup. I think this is a really dumb idea...Flutie's over 40, there's trouble everywhere he goes in the NFL, and a lot of New Englanders are still angry at him about the replacement player thing. Shouldn't they be trying to...

    Howard Stern?

I completely agree with No spoken words. I don't find him funny either. My only Stern listening experience is that at the place I used to work the morning girl would put his show on even though most of our customers were soccer moms with small kids, and she never understood why I'd ask her to...

    When you die....

I actually really want a gravestone when I'm gone. When my Dad's mother died, no one in the family could afford one for her, and she was buried in the same New England town as tons of her ancestors and they all had stones and she had this horrible green plastic marker, like something from a...

The Major League Baseball season is 162 games long.

Don't remind me; I'm still bitter about the Expos leaving. The Habs bought Youppi!, apparently, so that damn orange fuzzball will probably be around to harrass me at sporting events for the rest of my life. Youppi! will have more lives than a cat, and even if the NHL folds and I end up back in...

    RIP Frank Perdue

I always thought he kind of even looked like a chicken, if that makes any sense. He had a good long life and the commercials were pretty funny. RIP Frank!

    NHL sues NHLPA

This is getting more and more stupid. At this point I almost hope the league folds, because all sides are being jackasses. The hockey wasn't very entertaining in recent years as it was, and with less-talented replacement players it would be worse. Also, way to offend any union member who ever...

    Poetry Lovers...

When is this due, and what level of school is it for? My thing was Spanish lit, so I don't know about Eliot specifically, but the best thing to do is probably check out a biography on him and a collection or two of some of his works from the library. If there's a good selection, look for books...

    Do you give to charity?

I haven't given to anything lately because I'm completely and totally broke. But in the past I've given money to/volunteered for Unicef campaigns, stuff like that. I think it's awfully cynical to look at this thread as a popularity contest; listing the organizations you give to is a way of...
