Denver #2 Setlist Party

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I suppose it makes all the difference when you're there.

if we all just sat around these threads being like "oh it must be so great to be there", "the crowd loves the setlist", etc what would be the fucking point

we all know this band is capable of so much more!!!!!!

literally almost any other band would pay tribute to such a huge moment in their career

even Radiohead at Glastonbury in 03 called back several times to their 1997 performance, and they're essentially the least nostalgic band in the world

absurdly huge moment in their career and it was just tossed aside like it was nothing

  I think that alone makes the 2 nights in Denver even worse and more disappointing.
What a worthless 2 night stop.

So what's the fucking point of sitting around the thread talking about how much the setlist blows for 18 pages?

It wouldn't surprise me if 11 O'clock is just for the Roxy, or maybe at one of the eight shows in NYC. Let's not forget how much they rehearsed The Wanderer on Vertigo but they were rehearsing it for the Johnny Cash tribute.

"That fat homely guy in the nosebleeds is singing along to One!! What I wouldn't give to be there!!"

I mean come on. Unless you're literally going to every show on this tour, to call it a worthless 2-night stop is just ridiculous. A couple of my friends who were at the show texted me already saying how awesome it was, and one of them said it was easily the best concert she's seen.

Sure, I'd make some tweaks to the setlist here and there, but the way you guys talk sometimes is absurd.

I hope they do 40 after this. They can say the story about Dennis Sheehan being under the stage at Red Rocks getting the crowd to sing 'How long to sing this song?' It's not that hard, U2!

So, first they do California at just 1 out of 7 California shows, and now they don't do 40 with its Sheehan story in Denver.

GOOD JOB U2.

It really isn't that hard of a song to play. or what the hell do I know.

Denver is the only stop so far to not have a tour debut, and it's setlists are near carbon copies of ones already played this tour.

tonight was the exact same as LA5 except we lost the Troubles. for a band playing without an opening act, 23 songs is extremely disappointing. and don't give me that "Bono is still recovering" bullshit.

waiting it out for when they actually do something good, like play Bad or AIWIY (and that's a low minimum!)

Uh huh.

Look, obviously I'm bored or I wouldn't be watching the thread. And sometimes the griping bugs me more than others. And as soon as I say this someone is going to follow up with a post about "complaining about the complainers." But I don't care.

Because holy shit, the setlist bitching is sooooooo fucking tiresome.

And "worthless" - SAGET, PLEASE.

How dare you cori, I was trying to bring some positivity to the thread with an obvious comment and you nic caged me. Uneccesary.

Meanwhile I'm just saying that the band is obviously playing for the casual crowd who will off key sing to one with their arms around their bro because they have NO IDEA of the magic of other u2 songs. So even though Bono blathers on that he is so grateful for the fans who've been with us from the start he will still play BD and One and Vertigo to the radio listeners.

only a small handful of you will get this, but trust me, it's funny:

interference: bono, can you comment on the setlist being only 23 songs?
bono: we're on to montreal

interference: how about volcano and ordinary love on the e-stage?
bono: we're on to montreal

interference: why no 11 o'clock tick tock?
bono: we're on to montreal

interference: what about the speechif...
bono: we're on to montreal

inteference: the choice of closers, who's decision is that?
bono: we're on to montreal

inteference: thanks, bono
bono: we're on to montreal

Obviously value is subjective. One man's Denver 2 is another man's Phoenix 1 and all that.

Seriously though, if you went to the show and had fun, it wasn't worthless to you. If you didn't go to the show and it didn't provide you any interesting videos to look up or a unique bootleg to check out, why would you value it? In any case, no U2 show is objectively worthless.
