You should consider yourself one of the most blessed people on the planet.

Ha, that's a stretch, but, I do like that version of the song.

Elton still sounds good, relatively speaking, but man oh man, was his voice truly special back in the laste 60's early 70's. Just amazing.

I love Stevie Wonder. There's certainly no shame in that ... unless you consider that I really have a huge soft spot for "I Just Called To Say I Love You," which I find extremely sweet and charming. With a killer melody (verses moreso than the chorus).

As you should.....in fact, to not like him is what one ought to be ashamed of.

This, on the other hand.....

:)

Hey, I like "Overjoyed", which a lot of people I know make fun of.

For whatever reason, my favorite Wonder song is "Uptight", even though Talking Book and Songs in the Key of Life are the albums I'm most in awe of by him.

You should punch anyone who makes fun of Overjoyed. It's a BEAUTIFUL song. Lush and gorgeous.

I have so many other reasons to want to punch people, though.

corianderstem 02-09-2008 10:11 PM

Then what's another one on the list?

lazarus 02-09-2008 10:20 PM

Sir Duke FTW.

Anyone who doesn't like this song should be sent to the gulag.

corianderstem 02-09-2008 10:21 PM

Classic Stevie is just fantabulous.

But come on - is no one going to mock me for loving I Just Called To Say I Love You?

I guess it could be worse - I could have admitted to loving Part Time Lover.

I did it mostly just to see how bad the reprisal would be.

:| Ashamed? That is awesome! I love that version of the song! Both George and Elton sound amazing in that version.

"Maybe Your Baby" is just the dirtiest groove ever.
Stevie even does his own female background vocals. Helium? Did they have pitch shifters in 1972?

But, he's another performer that does not fall into the "ashamed" category.

In a way that's very similar to The Douche Siren.

Alas, my computer wasn't working at the time, but at that precise moment I did hum a few bars of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Stevie Wonder, too. I think my all time favourite song by him is I Wish.

I sang it that way ALWAYS. No kidding.

I saw Toto back in the early 80s.
I saw Def Leppard back around 'Photograph' time. Actually, saw them open for Billy Squier, then they came back and headlined (saw both tours). Then they played a stadium show in San Diego (I think) where Eddie Money was one of the opening bands.

Never saw Elton John, but think I'd go if he came back to L.A. One of my fave songs by him is 'Your Song'. I think I get a little weepy every time.
Bon Jovi will be here in April, and if I can find cheap tickets, I'll check them out. I remember seeing stars at the L.A. 'Elevation Tour' shows as well. I believe Heather Locklear & Richie Sambora were there as well, and Jon Voight if I remember correctly. The stars didn't really "come out" until the lights went off. But I distinctly remember seeing Elvis Costello at the Anaheim shows on that tour. He was in the 'celeb pit/soundboard' area way before the show started. I'd swear he was staring right at me, him in his cowboy-type hat. I  Elvis
