I really wish that Mark Warner would re-consider running.

najeena 11-12-2006 02:04 PM

Feingold is out.

^what can I say, I'm a baseball fan (hence my handle). For people who don't know what that means, "hot stove" in baseball is the rumormill and speculation surrounding trades, contract signings, etc.

Go Red Sox!

And go Chuck Hagel !!! I'm just not sure if he has the sizzle to compete.

An interesting pair of articles in the WaPo written by party insiders on prospective candidates:

GOP: https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...111001345.html
Dems: https://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...111001344.html

I don't like not having a solid grasp on who I'll support :grumpy:

As of now I'm leaning Obama/Biden-ish. No one else really impresses me.

It's looking like Hillary at the moment.
I dont/cant follow much of your politics, due to lack of exposure, but he is quite determined in all of his career to stick to the issues rather than the media bullshit, isn't he? He said in one interview that he wont run smear campaigns but will instead advertise his goals. Has he done otherwise?

John Edwards is my favorite candidate.

Next week, I'm planning to attend a book signing he'll have for his new book at a Barnes & Noble in Manhattan, and I will have two words for him: "Please run."

I feel the same. I really want to vote for him in two years. I love Obama but he's too inexperienced for a presidential campaign. Edwards has more experience, having served an entire Senate term and his campaign experience.

Ed Rendell would never leave that position.

I'm not a Democrat but I love Ed Rendell.

Brownback is probably in. Which means, sorry Mitt, but you just lost the evangelical vote, if you even had it in the first place. It's going to be interesting to watch some of the Republicans play the "no, I'm more conservative than you" game.

I do have to give Brownback props for actually putting all of his money where his mouth is and working on social justice issues and poverty issues in addition to pro life campaigning.

Varitek 12-21-2006 06:33 PM

So this is pretty hot-stove-y.

https://home.inklingmarkets.com/market/show/2673

I just bought in to several candidates. Looks like fun, though god knows what I need is another distraction.

verte76 12-21-2006 07:08 PM

You're right, they are off and going!

Halifax 12-22-2006 09:41 AM

Two of the candidates that I wished would run (Warner and Feingold) have now dropped out :(

Looking at the pool of candidates now, an Edwards/Richardson ticket is my choice.

From CNN.

Quote:

President Bush, according to reports, is strongly considering sending a "surge" of troops to Iraq in the new year -- 20,000 or more. Sen. John McCain and Sen. Joe Lieberman have already backed such a plan. But a new poll for CNN released Monday found that this idea draws the support of only 11 percent of Americans.
Every Democrat should hang this surge like an anvil around the neck of McCain. Way to pick a loser issue!

Edwards is. He's already calling it the "McCain Doctrine" or something like that to link the increase in troops with McCain. Smart

Bravo John! Way to beat him!
