hey new years day tab help

yea ive been playing new years day, but it doesnt really sound right especially the parts when it says new years day and the verses.. i dont know if its my sound that is too clean, cuz i know theres like overdrive involved. does anyone know what he is using.
i playing out of a Vox AD50VT and epiphone les paul. and im using a tab from u2 station .com
so can someone help.. thanks

On the album version it is most likely his BOSS SD1. More recently it would be his TS9.

He also uses his FET Boost with the strats which he use to use for NYD that could add to the grit.

Although now he is playing his main Les Paul for it.
